Default Pant sizes question

hello everyone,
I have a question and I know it may sound stupid. I have always been bigger than the normal girl my age (23). I don't remember being smaller or fitting into normal clothes. I'm at 223 right now and I'm a size 18 roughly. If I were to get down to maybe 160 which is my goal, what size would that be?? I suck at this stuff and I'm dreaming of smaller sizes in my head.

You cant really say. I have one friend that is a size12 and another a size 8. It depends on the amount of fat v.s muscle. Your height, where you carry most of your weight, if you are top heavy or bottom heavy. One thing is that you will no longer be shopping in the plus sizes

Hi honey

That question is hard to answer. It all depends on your build. Do you have pants that use to fit you when you were a smaller size? That maybe the best indication.

Some women are tiny but still a size 8...my mom for example was a slender and tall women but try as she might she never got out of at size 10 at 140(ish) at 5'8".

Also, I try and not care about the size of the pants but how I look and feel and my energy.

It is definitely very different for everyone, but it seems like we hold our wieght fairly similarly. I'm 5'6", and my heighest weight was 220. I was a size 18-20 at that weight, 20 if i wanted something loose. I'm 163-164 right now, i've been working out a lot so i'm fairly muscular, and i'm wearing a size 8. i've been at this weight before and been a 10/12...so it definitely depends how much of it is muscle. But right now i'm wearing almost all 8s, a couple of 6s at NY&Co, which runs big.

Candy Kisses is right- it totally depends on your shape and frame and where you carry weight. I am almost 5'7 and started about where you were and was a size 18-20. I am just under 145 and am a size 8. Last summer I had a pretty intense running regiment and I was 140-143 and a size 6.

Getting to 160 would be a significant drop and I'm sure you would see a smaller size, though!

160 I'd say a size 10 or 12. Depending really on your bone frame and fat to muscle ratio.

Unfortunately, and although it's not the answer you're looking for... it's true, it's all about proportions, and we can't tell you what size you'd be. I, for example, have no butt. I could gain like.. fifty pounds and it would all be in my hips, thighs, arms and face, and my butt would stay flat and stupid. (Yes, I just called my butt "stupid.")
As a result of that, I sometimes fit into smaller sized pants than someone who.. proportionately, is "thinner" than I am, but happens to have a bit of a butt on 'er. Believe me, it's not as ideal a situation as you would think.

However, if you stick to it and start shedding some of those pounds, you'll undoubtedly see a difference! I'm 5'4" and 21, and at about 167 I fit into a size 13/14. So if you're built anything like me, you'll probably be down a good few sizes.

A good guage to use is take your current weight and size - For every 10lbs lost - you would go down a dress size.

Hope that helps.

Wink Thanks!!

hello again,
thank you all for iving me some perspective. For years I honestly though Oh well, I'm overweight, guess I'm just stuck this way. or I'm too big to do anything about it now. I can't work out I met an old friend from Jr. High about 3 years ago and he has really changed my mentality. I was so used to hearing "you can't!" that I never heard "You can!"

I was about 240 until I broke up with him and I became sad and didn't really eat. I got down to about 180 and we worked things out. I got a little too comfortable and got back up to 240 again. Now I'm down to the 220 range and I'm really looking forward to what I could potentially look like.

I have never had even a size 12 pant size. It must feel amazing??? I can't wait till it's my turn. Thank you guys for your comments!

I have a nice size tushy and for the time being love the new Lane Bryant jeans.

They really are getting better at fitting all sizes and shapes for women....until recently all the plus size stores I went to the pants were soo long (granted maybe because I have little stumps for legs lol I am all body) but Lane has really gotten great at serving all plus sizes and shapes so I would look there for the time being.
