Which is better?

1. A higher intensity (2.2 miles total distance) 40 minute walk, or...

2. A moderate intensity (2.8 miles total distance) 60 minute walk?

Both, alternating. Your body will respond best (over time) if you mix up your workouts into different lengths and intensities.

If you only have time for one, I'd say the moderate intensity, 60 minute walk. High intensity is good for building muscle and increasing cardiovascular fitness, and it's definitely worth doing as you lose weight and get closer to goal. But no need to go all out on a daily basis during the middle of weight loss. Just my opinion.

There has been a lot of information about HIIT (High Intensity Interval Training) lately. Basically, you change up your intensity during your workout(low, medium, high repeated throughout). It actually results in more calories burned in less time without having to go 'full out' for your entire workout.

I have found that the slower I go the longer I can move, which I always thought was better in the long run, simply bc you are moving longer.

It never crossed my mind to do an 'every other day' thing. Thanks for all the help!
