Default Motivational quotes...

I've seen a whole bunch of these on the forum, and people seem to pull them out for every situation!

How about we pull them all out and share them here?? I'm interested.

I have one... that's rather modestly one of mine. I think I said it in response to someone on another forum a long time ago and I remember thinking to myself.... whoa... that's a good one! Did I really say that???

Quote:
Don't quit. Ever. You can and WILL win, IF you stick with it. You might find yourself at times taking one step forward and two steps back, but celebrate the one step forward and the fact that INSPITE of the two steps back you're still trying!

Here are my favorites for my weight loss journey:

Quitters never win and winners never quit.
Happiness is a choice.
I only have to make one good decision at a time.

I like these borrowed from a blog on 3FC:

"It’s a very funny thing about life, if you refuse to accept anything but the best, you very often get it." -William Somerset Maugham-

"A determined soul will do more with a rusty monkey wrench than a loafer will accomplish with all the tools in a machine shop" -Robert Hughes -

Smile This is my current favorite

As I have shared over the past two months, my Mom is critically ill. She had a hysterectomy for endometrical cancer. Supposedly, she was to be released about 4-5 days later. She still remains in the hospital. Alive.

During that time, she had had two surgeries to "fix" the surgerie's mistakes before. She had had two strokes, one leaving her temporarily blind for a month, and two heart attacks. Her kidneys stopped working and she had massive blood lose. Her doctors gave up on her. My Dad even had given up on her. Not my sister nor I. When my Dad was inconsolable with grieve, my sister and I made the decisions that helped give Mom another chance. I kept praying and saying over and over. I walk by faith and not by sight. My niece told me "but the doctors say...." I said, yes, they can say what they want to say, but as long as there is life there is Hope. I told my Dad "when" Mom comes home, not "if". Then, I turned to God and said, "don't make a liar out of me!"

"I walk by faith and not by sight."

It is not that I am refusing to believe that my Mom will not live, I believe that she is alive today, this moment. I do not venture to think beyond this moment but I know for this moment she is alive.

We have "celebrated" her regaining her sight, her consciousness, Mom and Dad's 56th wedding anniversary, Easter and her first real shower where she got wet! It has been both exhilirating and exhausting. We both laughed and cried when after her second heart attack, when Dad walked in the room, she casually said "Hi, Pops!" as if he had just been gone a few hours.

Again, losing weight has all of these challenges and more. If I walk by faith, and not by sight, I will lose this weight. All I need to do is believe!

Pamatga.... what a wonderful story. Thank you for sharing. I hadn't heard about your mother, as I'm new here.... so it's fascinating reading. You hear about miracles so much that I'm not sure anyone can ever say for truth what is going on with the human body, or what it is capable of with regards to healing itself.

How is your Mother doing now???

Sandi .... I love this one! : "It’s a very funny thing about life, if you refuse to accept anything but the best, you very often get it." -William Somerset Maugham- That is sooooo true...

Kara, there is something uniquely ironic about hearing really good motivational quotes on a Weight Loss Message Board that originally came from a small fat man

Mezster ... I still say the best one is the one in your signature

Rhonda .... I guess the day you start to win the battle is when you make more good decisions than bad decisions I'm still working on that one.... lol

Thanks everyone for your input! I am a sucker for a good quote

"The answer is not in the refrigerator"
(I remind myself when I open it to just gaze inside looking for something off-plan to nosh on).

Ottoette - in one of Geneen Roth's books she says she has a sign on the fridge that says, "It's not in here."

This one comes from Goddess Jessica here on 3FC, and I just absolutely love her attitude:
"When I failed, when I tripped up, when I had a birthday or a holiday, I just continued. I didn't permit myself to quit and restart. I just continued."

I love quotes:

The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams. Eleanor Roosevelt (You could substitute thighs, stomach, etc. for "dreams" )

No pessimist ever discovered the secret of the stars, or sailed to an uncharted land, or opened a new doorway for the human spirit. Helen Keller

Gotta get the classic -

"Nothing tastes as good as thin feels."

And one I've stolen from someone's signature - though I can't remember whose.

"Losing weight is hard. Being fat is hard. Choose your hard."

And I also really love Sandi's.

"It's about consistency, not perfection."

I can't seem to find the exact quote, so this probably won't come out to good but ---

Having a bad day on a diet and giving up is liking saying "I tripped on a stair, I might as well just throw myself down the rest of them".

Oooh my favorite, and I can't remember where I saw it:

Remember, when you see a man standing on top of a mountain, he didn't fall there.

Or:

Whether you think you can or think you can't, you're right.
