Question Ok to diet while poorly?

Hey,
I have a really bad cold and sore throat at the moment and also the annoying thing is that before i was poorly i had a really reduced appetite but since catching this cold i've been on eating overload and have only managed to curb it after about 2 or 3 days of pigging out. Also because of it i didn't go to the gym on monday or start my C25K this week either. I feel guilty I've only been dieting for less that a week and i've already slipped of the right track. Still, I'm going to weigh in tomorow morning before breakfast to see if anythings changed! Thanks!

It sounds like you have the same cold I have. I've been miserable for about a week now, hopefully it won't last much longer. I'm not sure I have any good advise. I've halted my workouts, not a hard choice since I've been so dizzy every time I stand up. My eating has also been horrible. I've gone from a raging appetite, to none. I've gain some back, but until I'm 100%, I'm going to focus on being well, rather than losing. I hope you feel better soon!

I'd focus on getting really good quality foods (lots of vitamins and minerals!) and plenty of non-caloric fluids, and if you want to get back on track, taking my calorie level down.

Also, hold off on the exercise until all symptoms are at neck level or above (so no body aches, fever, chest cough, etc). Once the symptoms are above your neck, you can work out without harming your recovery, as long as you feel up to it.

Hope you feel better soon!

I hope you're feeling better soon. I know all about being sick - yuk.

I agree with everyone else, wait until you're feeling better (no more aches and pains) before you start exercising again, you don't want to set yourself back health wise.

Lots of water and vitamins will help.

I started taking a daily multivitamin and 1000mg of vitamin C about a month and a half ago, and anything that I have been catching has been going away as fast as it comes

Of course I do smoke, so it doesn't help matters much - but that's another goal I'll work on when I'm ready
