Default 5K - First time Question

My sister and I are going to sign up for our first 5K ever. I am thinking about one that is on April 27th (two months away). I currently do about a 12 min mile comfortably. I did 4.364 miles on my treadmill the other day in one hour. I do intervals of jogging for 10 minutes, walking for 3-5, and repeat 3 times.

For the 5K - what kind of a goal should I shoot for - be able to do it in under 40 minutes? 35 minutes?

What should I expect for my 'first time'? Will it be fun? Am I too fat? Will everyone point and laugh?

It sounds like fun, and good motivation for training. Go for it!
You are NOT too fat to do this. And if someone did point and laugh, you can just laugh back at them because you are the one running and they are the one stading on the sidelines!
Sign up! And let us know how it goes!

No you are not too fat!! People will not point and laugh, in fact you may find that they are cheering you on! You will probably end up going a bit faster than you expect. I always seem to go faster during a 5k race then when I am by myself. All the excitement, I guess. Good luck to you and let us know how it goes

I definitely agree with the above! I'm doing a 5k myself next month, my first as I am also a starting out jogger. I think there will definitely be a lot of people who are beginners like us, not just veterans going a mile a minute.

I'm doing my first one this St Pat's day. My goal is just to jog the whole distance.

you are doing this for yourself! you are not too fat and if others point and laugh then they are insecure about their ownselfs! who cares what others think the only opnion that matters is yours! go for it and good luck!!
