Default Muscle aches

I started the Grapefruit Diet on Feb 1 and I'm doing pretty well.

I did the Atkins a few years back and remember being achy.... well the aches are back -- mostly in my thighs. How do we avoid these? I don't remember if they go away.... can I take Tylenol or Ibuprofen for this?

Anyone else follow the Grapefruit or New Mayo diet?

Hello, I am doing the Atkins diet and I also have my legs aching. I remember reading in another thread that a sign that you are low on some type of vitamin is when your legs ache all the time. I will try to go back on other threads and find the answer or hopefully someone will answer this question soon.

Try taking some calcium/magnisium and potassium as well as a good multi. My aches tend to go away when on atkins as long as I take my vitamins and drink plenty of water.

Well, I'm on prescription prenatals... I have 50 mg of potassium in them. Maybe I need to kick that up.

Here's the grapefruit diet cut and pasted:

Grapefruit Juice Diet
The Promise:

In 2 1/2 months you should lose 52 pounds.

The Rules:

* You must drink eight 8oz. glasses of water daily (64 oz. total per day).
* At any meal you may eat until you are full.
* You must eat the minimum listed at each meal. (yep, this diet list the minimum you should eat).
* You cannot eliminate anything from the diet. Especially the bacon at breakfast and the salads. You must eat the bacon and salads. These combinations of food burn the fat, omitting one part of the combination will cause the whole thing not to work.
* The grapefruit juice is important because it acts as a catalyst that starts the burning process. Don't add or reduce the amount of juice.
* Cut down on coffee, it affects the insulin balance that hinders the burning process. Try to limit to 1 cup at meal time.
* Don't eat between meals. If you eat the suggested foods you will not get hungry.
* You can fry food in butter and use butter generously on vegetables.
* Do not eat desserts, breads, and white vegetables or sweet potatoes.
* You may double or triple helpings of meat, salad or vegetables.
* Eat until you are stuffed. The more you eat the more weight you will lose.
* Stay on the diet 12 days, then stop the diet for 2 days and repeat.

Diet Plan:

Breakfast:

* 8 oz. juice (unsweetened)
* 2 eggs any style
* 2 slices of bacon

Lunch:

* 8 oz. juice (unsweetened)
* Salad with any dressing
* Meat any style and any amount.

Dinner:

* 8 oz. juice (unsweetened)
* Salad with any dressing OR a red or green vegetable cooked in butter or spices.
* Meat or even Fish any style cooked any way.
* Coffee or Tea (1 cup)

The weight loss sounds wonderful, but I don't think I can stick with only eating the same things day after day. I would love to loose 52 lbs in 2 1/1 months but I know as soon as I would stop this I would just gain it all back. I have decided to loss the weight for a lifetime therefore my diet has to be a life time change.

Good luck and I hope this works for you, how long ago did you start?

I started on Feb 1.... it's not too bad. It's more like eating because I have to eat, you know? Food isn't really pleasurable on low carb for me. I lost 2 lbs the first day then 1 lb each day since.

Pretty much here's what I eat:

Breakfast:
2 eggs with cheese scrambled, 2 pcs bacon.
1 cup grapefruit juice

Lunch:
small salad with very veggie lettuce (carrot and radish pieces in it etc) and some sugar snap peas with full fat ranch
some rotisserie chicken from the night before
a string cheese
1 cup grapefruit juice

Dinner tonight will be:
1 deviled egg (mayo, cajun mustard, capers)
1 ribeye steak marinated in caesar dressing
steamed broccoli with cheese
1/2 grapefuit

I did buy some crystal light and some sugar free (alcohols) candy... I used those things when I was on Atkins and they didn't cause a stall, so I glass of crystal light and one or 2 candies per day will be fine I think.

Are you hungry in between meals?

I get it now I guess it is a lot like low carb except you add the grapefruit juice. What kind do you buy?

I'm actually sort of nauseated between meals.

I buy ruby red tropicana, ocean spray, or store brand.... not frozen. Whatever is on sale!
