Tall Chicks - Jan/Feb 2008
I'm 5'9 and am wondering if there's other tall chicks out there trying to lose weight? What is your goal weight and your plans for this year? I'm trying to lose 10 lbs in three months, then another 5 or so to reach my "happy weight" as they called it in a magazine article I just read.

I'm 5'10" I consider myself tall. This year I plan to lose what I can lose, but I don't have a particular goal...well I'm lying. I plan to lose 50 this year (to be safe) because I have too much to lose.

Definition of "tall" according to my google search is 5'8 or over, according to some, 5'9 and over. We are the ones who buy "tall" and long inseam jeans - 34" or more right?

Me me!! I'm 6' 3" and my goal is to be at either 220 or 200. Before I had my boys I was 195 and that was skinny for me, anything less that for me is to skinny. Right now most of my weight is in my belly so I look like I'm about 20 weeks pregnant.

Do you think tall girls look "more" BIG when overweight? I like being tall but I don't like feeling so big, I gain weight in my upper body, my legs stay thin - so my clothes don't fit me right. Disguising a tummy is hard and I like fashion. I used to be so tall and thin, could eat anything, what happens, just junk food habits...

Yes. I think we are probably lucky to be tall - We can eat more than the little people! My fat seems to spread pretty evenly over my body. I am just chubby all over!!
I am 5'9" and when I graduated high school - I was at my lowest weight of 150. It was HARD to get to that weight - I think realistically, 160 is my ideal weight. I know my sister is about 160-165ish and she is the same height as me. I would also consider myself to have a larger frame. Even at 150, I felt anything but delicate. But I have to say - if I got to 170, I would be pretty freggin' exstatic.

Despite my linebacker comment, I do think I look alot smaller than I would if I were a few inches shorter. Alot of people guess me to be in the 250 range (although I'm not lol). Although 250 is still clearly overweight it makes me smile

I'm tall and I'd need to lose over 100lbs to be at my happy weight. I think being tall does mean I carry my weight well, but I'd say my belly and hips are my problem zones.

Yea, I'm classic pear at 5'9", but when people guess my weight, its always between 50-75 lbs less than what I am, which is nice.

I'm tall, 196 lbs, and trying to get down to 150. I'll see how I look/feel there and then adjust if needed. Fortunately, like a lot of chicks on this thread, because I'm tallish people never guess that I weigh what I do. My dad's jaw dropped to the ground when I told him that my highest weight was 210. He thought I weighed 170! Apparently I carry my weight well.
Anyway, the tallness isn't in my legs, instead I have a long torso. Which I'd rather have than long legs because it has always kept be from having a bulgy belly - despite me being even at my fattest weight, 210, my stomach has always been "flat" in a jiggly sort of way. Does that make any sense?

5'11" here. May I join?
My arms and belly are my nemeses! And I had such skinny arms when I was thin...isn't it funny how you don't know where you'll put on the weight until you do?! And my belly is from my insulin issues. Well, um, my insulin issues and the 130 or so extra pounds I'm carting around!

Being tall rocks when you're overweight, but being overweight doesn't rock, lol. Cannot wait for this extra 160 lbs to be gone!
