Well I met my goal for the last 8 days of January and exercised for 220 mins - 20 mins over my goal.

Things are ok on the homefront. I need to get in some more vegies and salads, but I have started eating breakfasts which is a big accomplishment. Just not a breakfast person - or rather not a big fan of eating at 7.00am.

I will have to try out some quick receipes to make it a bit more enjoyable.

No alcohol consumption this week - not through choice I can assure you, but we simply haven't been able to afford anything lately. The budget is very, very tight right now. But I do think it has helped slighting in my losing some weight last week.

Anyway, off to lunch now, will try and post some more info later tonight.

Happy losing

HI Ladies,

Well it's almost Feb 1st (where did January go?) and it's the start of a new month and a new committment to lose the rest of the weight for me. My one year anniversary is coming up in March and I want to at least be NEAR 140 by then. I have been in total 1/2 way mode since December and it's time to get my sorry rear in gear. I was wondering if any of you pre-planned your meals for the day? I"m thinking I should plan my meals the night before. I'm not sure if it will work but I think I'm giving myself too much lee-way on deciding what to eat. I know it won't be perfect because sometimes we decide to eat out at the last minute but it could help my wandering around the kitchen wondering what to make for a snack or for lunch. Has this worked for any of you?

Good luck on a new and great month!
Amber

Sugarbutt, hang in there! We're all rooting for you, and we're here for you.

And someone mentioned glittermaker up here...I've been wanting to check out this site for a while myself, but for some odd reason, can't get it to upload on my computer. Weird.

As for my week, due to a tight budget, I wasn't able to eat the things that I should be eating. Also, it doesn't help when you have a super-skinny brother who's addicted to pizza and has it just about everyday for breakfest, lunch, and dinner. UGH! Still, I'm trying to keep exercising, and to cheer myself up, I'm going out to Kmart tomorrow to see if they still have this fabulous bedspread that I've been wanting for a while.

Yay! I finally exceeded my fitness goal of 1500 minutes for January - I made 1585 yesterday! And I lost 2 pounds for the month. Not the 3 I was hoping for, but I'll take it. February is short but I'm going to try and be extra-good, to be back in maintenance by my 1-year anniversary.

sugarbutt, sorry to hear about your troubles. We're here for you.

Amber, I pre-plan breakfast, lunch, and snacks. I pack it all up the night before since I eat both meals at work. I also give thought to dinner and plan it as best I can - if I don't have time to go home between work, gym, and rehearsal, I'll bring dinner or a half-dinner, or know that I have something healthy in the fridge or freezer I can eat when I get home if I don't end up eating w/ BF, etc. I try to be stricter w/ calories for breakfast & lunch since I know that dinner is the meal I like to indulge in a little more.

Daisy, congrats on meeting your exercise goal and eating breakfast! Maybe if you're not a breakfast person you could eat something small (a piece of fruit?) at 7:00 and then eat your main breakfast and 9:00 or 10:00. It might wake your stomach up a little more slowly.

I kinda wish I didn't have any money to buy alcohol! Or that BF didn't, either, for that matter. I mean, I shouldn't really, I should make extra payments towards my student loans w/ that $. It would make such a difference in my weight!

Have a great day everyone!

Well I am done with the move. Now just to get to unpacking. I am psyched about it being a new month. I really want to be OP this month and his my fitness goal. Well I hope everyone is having an OP week.

jilly - mmm....chinese food! I know what you mean about getting off track lately. I too am taking advantage of this being a new month to become newly dedicated to my goals.

britomart - I could see myself falling to the no sugar must be good for you trap lol.

AmberM- two hours of working out, girly if I only had the time. Great job having sucess with eating right and working out. I think the oatmeal raisen cookies for the kids are a great plan. I started the preplan my meals. It made grocery shopping easier. But then when you go off plan you end up eating more I think.

jdoggmartin - oooh Italian is my weakness too! Gotta love bread pasta and cream sauce! congrats on the loss and hitting your goal. I did not even come close but I have my eye on the prize as far as february is concerned.

Megan - squirrel dna? You are hilarious, I often get the urge to 'pack it in' like our squirrel counterparts lol glad I am not the only one.

missmichelle - you are so close to your goal, we know you can do it. I am sending some staying OP luck your way

sugarbutt - sorry to hear about all your misfortune, I will send some luck your way, hope you feel better!

... First day of February! Come on and join in on the Challenge.

I hope everyone is doing well today. I went through my old room and found a disk with all of my old photos when i was in tip top shape. Oh how i miss that. I hate how when you have something you don't realize it, but looking back, i wish i had that body back.

Need to tone up.

i'm back on target with my workouts. the only thing that i have a hard time with still is strength training. my old gym when i lived with my parents was a YMCA with an older crowd. this gym, however, is SUPER young. i still get intimidated to walk acroos the room and use the machines with the guys. i've decided that i will continue to lift weights at home (and use my resistance bands) and when i get to 180, i will do the weights. i just have to take baby steps by adding cardio, and then progress to weights.

i almost had a girl freak out at me at the gym. so there were two ellipticals next to each other free. one had a magazine on it, the other didn't. well, i went on the one that didn't have the mag. it didn't guide smoothly, so i took the magazine off of the other elliptical, and put it on the broken one (there was NO times or anything on the elliptical with the mag, it clearly had not be used recently). well, this girl comes over to the guy next to me and starts staring at my machine, and talking to him and he starts staring at me (i'm busy watching the insider and have my headphones on). i think i "took" her machine, but i ignore the whole situation because i looked at my time and i had been on that machine for 10 minutes. i felt bad, but to be honest, people leave magazines on empty machines all the time, and that guy could have told me that the machine was being used. oh well.

Hi ladies

Well I have put in my goal for exercise for the month - a whopping 1,000 minutes! Wish me luck : seeing as today is the 2nd Feb i better get my butt cracking on the exercise.

chicagoposter - how rude, expecting a bike to be left for more than 10 mins and expect it to be available when they come back. i don't know about the ettiquite at your gym, but i understand it as you use the machine when you are on the machine and the minute you move somewhere else, its fair game. Glad to hear you are on target.

Megan - Congratulations on your weight loss for January and for exceeding your goal for exercise - great job

I so believe that alcohol contributes to weight gain. I used to live in a mining town and alcohol was a big part of the culture. Finish work - have a drink, play a sport - have a drink, all weekend - have a drink. When I moved away, I stopped drinking and managed to lose 20 kg in about 8 months only through not drinking and exercising 20 mins per day, and less fast food. Amazing! I didn't put the weight back on until I stopped exercising and then began to socialise more and drink more . . . you get the picture.

sugarbutt - i am so sorry for all you have been through and are going through now. i will be sending some really good vibes your way and we are here for you

MOrning Ladies & Happy February!

I just finished doing two weeks straight of working out. I am really going to kick it into higher gear this month. I am getting in shape for VEGAS baby. Thatis where I am headed for springbreak/birthday.

I can already tell a difference....I had to wear a belt today (it's been a really long time since this has occured)

I'm looking forward to what my body can do.

Chicagoposter: Some people are just plain self centered & rude. I would have just smiled and looked her way, but you did good to ignore her. Good Job! Keep up the good work, dont' let that little incident deter you from hitting the gym.

Also, I can'r remember who posted that they were waiting for a certain goal to hit the weights. I to, was scared to go over to the boy part of the gym and use the weights, but went over there after a couple of weeks at the gym. I soon noticed that the guys are sooo into themselves they don't really even pay attention to us using weights. PLUS, you burn more calories when building muscles lifting weights...so GET TO IT! You go girl!

Hi everyone! I'm still alive, still maintaining!

I have to say, it is SUCH a relief to know that I am not the only person who ate half a batch of cookies last week. I made these whole-grain cookies and then ate half the batch WITH WHIPPED CREAM. They were so good though. I have been craving chocolate and sweets for the past two weeks.

I don't think I can respond to everyone's posts, but I just wanted to say hang in there! You can do it!

I'm flying out to Indianapolis next week for a job interview (they liked my phone interview!) so wish me luck!

Chicagoposter – Good for you for ignoring the girl. You can’t reserve machines for 10 minutes at a gym! At my gym as soon as someone gets off, especially the elliptical, someone else is already walking toward the machine.

Sugarbutt – Hang in there. Seems like you’re going through a lot right now. Stay strong

Spillthebeans – Good job on 2 weeks of working out. When are you going to Vegas? I’m going at the end of March for my friends b-day. I love Vegas! I haven’t been there in about 2 years. Woo hoo!! Can’t wait.

Paperclippy – Yayyy for maintaining I can’t wait until I get to wear you are right now

So I have been doing good with my workouts. I’m averaging around 60 minutes of exercise a day. I’ve been changing up my workouts to keep me motivated. Some days I do the cardio machines and strength training and two days out of the week I take group classes. I love the Cardio Seduction class. It’s so fun! Even though every now and then we all feel a little embarrassed because the class is in the main studio, which has windows on three sides and is positioned right in front of some weight machines and the floor exercise section. So when we are all shaking our booties you have guys staring at you . It’s still fun and I can deal with some embarrassment once a month.

I’m so close to reaching 179 I can taste it!!! Urrrghhhh it’s taking so long to get there, but I will get there this week!!! I’m wearing jeans today that two weeks ago were a little tight and now they are lose in the stomach section and the thighs Yayyy!!!! I’m so excited.

Well, since the cookies were gone I was doing ok.... On Tuesday night my Italian class had a dinner party and one of our classmates cooked for us... Including enough Tiramisu' to feed a small army!! And Brie!! You know how long it's been since I've had Brie?? Gah! Anyway, I tried to be moderate in everything.. I didn't deprive myself (because that's no fun, and I'm never successful at it), but I tried to be reasonable. I'm actually pretty happy with how the night went, as under the same circumstances a couple of months ago I would have been sick with overeating!

Besides, I've been good since then, eating healthily and going to aquafit a couple of times. I've always had really strong legs and I'm starting to see the muscle definition in my thighs again like I used to... It's awesome

So...... did the groundhog see his shadow today? It was cloudy here, but I don't think the London, Ontario groundhog is the "official" weather predictor. More winter or no?

No incidents at the gym today. . it was an ok workout, i did intervals for 30 minutes on the elliptical (the precor 556 with the arms) and it kicked my butt. i was up to level 17 at certain points, it really worked me hard, i was kinda surprised. it will be nice to go back to that after i get in better shape and see how much easier it it.

then, feeling strong (despite having my butt kicked), i got on the treadmill, afterall, i have that race, and running 30 minutes on the treadmill was one of my goals for february. so i got on, and walked fast with a nice little incline, well my calves were killing. so i moved it to no incline, faster walking. i felt strong. decided to run. well, about 2 minutes into my running, my right calf was KILLING me. i ran a bit more to see if it would go away cuz i felt like running and every other part of me felt fine, also, i was getting into jeopardy and my music, but no luck. oh well, i think i'm going to start tomorrow with the bike, run on the treadmill, and if it kicks my butt, just move to the elliptical. oh, and yeah, i'm gonna stretch before the gym!

tonight my little sister is coming over for the o.c., normally we get sushi (one of the healthiest take out options), but she's insisting on bringing something, she won't tell me what though, so i've kinda "saved" my points today because i'm thinking it's calamari (she was just raving about it at her favorite restaurant). the hardest part will be not drinking with her too. wish me luck ladies!
