First name (if you want to tell): Christy
Geographical location: Georgia
Age: 23 in about a month.
Marital Status: Married just over 3 yrs. but together for about 8.5 yrs.
Children/Ages: 1 son, turned 1 yr old on our 3-year anniversary.
Occupation: Administrative Assistant in the IT dpt. of a marketing company--lots of reporting, payroll, and minor PC fixes.
Pets: Shelby (3 yr old Great Dane), Dan (retriever mix..not sure how old, but super super sweet!!), Red (beta fish), Blue (beta fish), Bacon (blue-collared Syrian hamster), Ham (dwarf hamster), and Ham's 4 new babies (currently just 1, 2, 3, & 4 LOL).
Hobbies/Interests: reading, church activities, going to the lake to tube or ride a jet ski, 4-wheeling, hanging with my friends, playing with my son
Height: 5'2"
Eye/Hair Color: green/dark brown with blonde highlights
Starting Date of Weightloss Journey: this time, June 3rd.
Starting Weight: 205
Present Weight: 196
Goal Weight: 125 (God willing!)
Biggest hurdle to overcome in weightloss: I just really enjoy eating, and I tend to do it when I'm bored. In my family we always use food to celebrate, so I have always associated it with having a good time. I also have trouble with portion control...I can hold a lot of food! I don't think it helps that I used to be anorexic either...I'm sure that messed me up psychologically somehow. Two of my biggest problems foods are chips (especially with dip!) and cookies...I try not to let those through my front-door unless they're low-cal.
Following any specific plan: Just trying to stick to around 1200 cal/day and making wiser choices (whole grains, lean meats, non-fat dairy, lots of fruits/veggies, etc). Also, trying to get a minimum of 30 min exercise EVERY day.
What is different this time in your weight loss efforts than in the past: I agree with the original poster--I never really "got it" either. It took me a while to realize that 1) my body is my own and is unique--this means I can't eat the way other people do and look the same way they do...it's genetically impossible for me. And 2) I can't just lose weight and then go back to my same old eating habits--this has to be a lifestyle change and NOT a diet. This means that I can't deny myself anything, but need to use my head for EVERY food decision I make to watch type of food and portion size.
Anything else you would like to share with us: I am terribly afraid that I will fail.

Hello There
Hi there, I've been journaling here at 3 Fat chicks for months now, but am new here at the forums. I have a lot of weight to lose, and so I am going to jump in here =)
First name: Cassandra
Geographical location: Alberta, Canada
Age:21
Marital Status:Common-Law
Children/Ages:none
Occupation:Independant Contractor
Pets:a 4 month old kitten named Dude
Hobbies/Interests: playing guitar, singing, writing, drawing/painting, music, movies, hanging out with my family.
Height:5'8"
Eye/Hair Color:Blue
Starting Date of Weightloss Journey:All of my life but I think my turning point was monday morning around 5 am.
Starting Weight: 300
Present Weight:294
Goal Weight:150
Biggest hurdle to overcome in weightloss:letting the addiction control me
Following any specific plan:Point system
What is different this time in your weight loss efforts than in the pasthis time I had something happen to me that scared me more than anything in the whole world.
Anything else you would like to share with us:I have been over-weight my whole life. When I think of weighing 150lbs, it is something I cannot grasp. I know that I have the power in me to do this, and do it for the rest of my life. At first, wanting to lose weight was for vanity reasons. Back in junior high I thought that the popular ones would like me if only I was thin, my parents would love me if only I was thin, my dreams would come true....if only I was thin. But now, medical reasons are starting to make me wake up and smell the coffee. I am an emotional eater, a binger, a smoker with a heart problem, and extremely unhappy with who I am. But I know it can change.

What is different this time in your weight loss efforts than in the past: I'm happier as a person, but I dont know if thats a good thing or a bad thing when it comes to dieting!
Anything else you would like to share with us: I think losing weight is one the hardest things any one can do, and it it so difficult to not feel like a failure, when your surrounded by skinny people who don't have any issues with food! I dont want to be ashamed of eating, or of not losing weight every week, I just want to try and learn to have a healthier attitude toward eating (ooh, go on then, and drinking too!)
