Smile Finally, under 30" waist!!

Well, today was my measuring day. I was a bit concerned because my weight had been up earlier this week (back to 154/155), but I read an article about how if you don't drink enough water, then even if you count calories you won't lose weight! So yesterday I drank all my water (I am really bad about drinking water), and today, my weight was down to 152!! Woohoo! And when I measured, my waist was 29.5 inches!!! It was 33 inches December 20. AND, to top it off, I FINALLY lost half an inch from my thighs!!! This is the first time my thigh measurement has changed, and I measure every two weeks. I'm so excited!

I'm really tempted to say that the weight loss was due to drinking my water, but I also started my period yesterday, so the gain might have been related to that. I'm going to try to drink all my water anyway and hope that the scale keeps going down. If the water really makes the difference and gets my loss going again, I will be so happy! I'm thinking my body has a lot of crap to get rid of, and if I don't drink enough water there's not enough in there for my body to carry away the crap with!

Here's hoping this is a good sign!

Paperclippy -- It is extremely important to drink your water.... Here are a few good reasons to drop the pop and drink the water:

Quote:
Water is extremely important in losing weight and keeping it off. Water suppresses the appetite and helps your body metabolize stored fat.

Studies have shown that a decrease in water intake will cause fat deposits to increase while an increase in water intake can actually reduce fat deposits.

Drinking 8 glasses of water a day can also eliminate water retention. Sodium may be a cause of water retention. Water flushes the sodium out of your system.

Water can help relieve constipation. When your body gets too little water, it siphons what it needs from internal sources. The colon is one primary source. The result is constipation. But if you drink enough water, normal bowel function returns. So, drink 8 to 10 glasses of water a day.

Your body will not function properly without enough water and cannot rid itself of wastes and toxins. Drinking water is essential for clear, healthy skin.
Here is the full article

Oh and I almost forgot congrats on the new waist size, measuring is so much more important than the scale... I measure every 4 months...

Thanks for the encouragement everyone! And thanks for posting the article Ilene -- that is actually the same one that I read on another forum around here that made me realize I needed to drink more water. It's not that I had been drinking soda or anything else, I just had been drinking one glass of water with lunch and one with dinner and not drinking anything the rest of the day (maybe some milk in the morning). Now that I've been drinking all my water, I find that I'm thirstier all the time. Weird!

Anyway, it still seems to be working, since I lost another pound since posting this thread!

I have to tell you that this thread has been a great inspiration to me. Knowing what a difference water has made for you reminds me to keep gulping it down. And to think that I could be somewhere around a 30' waist by losing 15-20 more lbs just totally makes me smile.
Keep up the awesome work!
