I said no to cake, hot dogs and chocolate while being out and about today, and that's a big deal here!

Hoopty-that's great!

Made sure to carefully measure my food for lunch and am glad I did bc I've gotten a little greedy when eye-balling portions lately

Today I tracked everything I ate. I decided not to go to the store to buy treats.

Today I scrubbed the walls in the bedroom I'll be moving into. Filthy doesn't even begin to describe it. 3 walls down, one to go. My arms are killing me! lol

So I started the Dukan diet 3 days ago and I'm down 5 pounds but tonight because I'm on night shifts my cravings for junk was so bad, so I went to the grocery store and got my bag of chicken strips and then bought some lemon meringue greek yogurt and enjoyed that instead of the chocolate donut I really really wanted. It definitely satisfied my craving!

Back home and had my usual breakfast. I'm focusing on reducing portion sizes and I was afraid to be hungry after breakfast, considering I ate more than usual on my vacation. I'm happy that I felt satisfied right away. For the rest of the day I'm going to focus on not snacking.

I signed up for this forum and started a weight watchers plan, which resulted in eating healthy all day today.

Keeping to my "meal plan" with a snack. Much harder than I remember it being.

Went to the groceries and bought much less than usual! Not a spectacular food day (carby) but I haven't overeaten so I'm good with that

I decided to keep to my 5:2 plan today despite it being the first week of school and didn't give into my "well I'm stressed so I shouldn't worry about what I eat" desires

birdtostone - Thumbs up for sticking to your meal plan.

Muguet - Less groceries is awesome. I hadn't even really thought about that portion of my weight loss journey yet. I'm always up for saving money!

Dottington - Way to go not caving to desires! I always struggle majorly with that.

For me today, I came up with a list of rewards for goals and mini-goals that fit me, and aren't food.

I was having trouble initially because rewards I saw online were always clothes shopping, going out, or getting make-over type stuff (including mani-pedi). However, I just started my weight loss goal and dislike how I look in clothing, so that didn't feel like a reward, and anxiety/depression issues tend to make going out around people feel more forced than rewarding. Hopefully as I drop weight that'll change a bit and I can reward myself with that stuff too. For now I picked out some games I can get as rewards. Cheaper ones for mini-goals, and some of the more expensive titles for larger goals. I'm open to any suggestions folks may have!

I think giving yourself little rewards is a great thing! However, I feel that feeling beautiful whatever your size may be is super important. I can completely relate being uncomfortable in certain social situations. I'm not saying you should be shopping all the time and being super active socially, but I'm encouraging you to understand that beauty, self-confidence and self-respect aren't defined by the numbers on the scale. It's been a hard journey for me to feel that I'm allowed to feel beautiful and to pamper myself. I'm absolutely allowed to feel feminine and I don't want that feeling to rely on a dress size or a number on the scale.

I remember being a US size 16/18 and telling myself that if I ever reach a size 8, I'll be happy with myself. I've reached that size and to be honest, I can't say that I felt more "allowed" to feel beautiful and feminine. I think that the years of negative thoughts and emotions led to bad habits, regardless of the size I have. I also kept saying negative things about myself to some friends which led them to feel like they were allowed to do the same to me.

Truth is, be good to yourself, whatever your weight is. Feel like it's okay to wear whatever you want or get a mani/pedi. I love this quote by Yves Saint-Laurent: Over the years I have learned that what is important in a dress is the woman who is wearing it.

Take care!
