Shopping, in my experience, is mostly this...

  • RIGHT?! Or is this just me?
  • Omigod, agree.

I got some cute dresses from Forever 21 the other day, and I'm PRETTY DAMN SURE that they have some sort of system where they ONLY put ONE large on the rack, in amongst 17,000 smalls and mediums. You have to HUNT for that large, and they don't make it easy. With every tag I fish out that says "small," it feels like another slap in the face: "You should be THIS size."

Despite being ultimately successful, I'm pretty sure it's a conspiracy.
  • Yep. That sums it up pretty well. And I agree with the whole one large on the rack business lol. The sheer thing made me crack up! So true right now.
  • That pretty much sums it up.

I generally only shop at thrift and discount stores too. Its hit or miss there with sizing. Everywhere else is simply too expensive.
  • Don't get me started on bra shopping...almost as worse as jean shopping.
  • Hilarious. I have been trying to buy some clothes for months now and every shopping trip results in me going home single handed !
  • i stick to stores and cuts i know to avoid the dissapointment , i wish i could just grab anything i liked though

get fitted for a bra i did , and i LOVE wearing fancy bras now .... good business !

jeans i can do without i live for dresses and skirts !
  • I hate clothes shopping right now to be honest. It's a really demoralising experience.
  • It took me 6 months to find the right bra- WAY harder than jeans for me!. And in that 6 months, I was convinced I need a breast lift because I was having such a hard time fitting into anything! Eventually I was up in the $80 bra range, trying on anything I could find!

Thankfully, I settled in the $40-50 per bra price range at VS- phew!
  • that sounds tough underwater ! ....

idk your size but if you are a 36 c and up LANE BRYANT does some beautiful ones in evrey cut color and fabric you can think of ,

if you wait for the semi annual sale ( i do because im cheap lol ) you can snag 4 bras for 80- 90 bucks thats like 22 dollars or less a bra !

fig leaves has some pretty ones for hard to find sizes but i dont like them as much as LB because i feel evrey brand cuts diffrent i know my exact size with LB bras as opposed to other companies

but to end rant dont give up or settle for bras that are just OK there are great ones out there go get them !
  • They forgot the terrible mirrors that add 20 pounds and cellulite.
  • Haha, thanks for the thread! It definitely made me laugh.

Ive always had a love/hate relationship with shopping. I love clothes but I hate the disappointment with trying them on and having it not fit properly.
I've told myself I'm going to buy only the very necessary amounts of clothing / staple pieces until I get to my goal weight. I hope to not be wearing that size for too long, so I don't see the point in buying much until goal!
Now bags, jewelry, and scarves... That is an entirely different story.

Have you looked at their online selection? I got a really really cute swimsuit for the summer for about 25 dollars. That's both top and bottom. I was looking for an old fashioned high waist-ed bottom and top, so I could feel like I'm wearing a bikini when I'm not. Everything online was over 100 dollars except for forever 21. Also just for kicks, forever 21 is a South Korean company that started in South Korea. I live in Seoul Korea because my husband is in the Army and they have like 3-5 stores here in the city that are like 5 floors tall and pretty overwhelming. Of course I can't find anything, because anything over size 6 in Korea is plus sized. :/ And generally Koreans here in the city are not plus sized.
  • yup totaly get you!

I actually like to shop at Kohl's they have agreat variety of sizes and in "cute" stuff to! Sometimes I get so frustrated at other stores where the cute stuff is reserved for the skinniest of skinny and the trash bags are for anyone bigger than a small. So I bypass it and goto Kohl's.
  • I shop almost entirely at Kohls or Lane Bryant now. I went to LB a few weeks ago for their bra sale, ended up getting 3 bras, 2 tank tops, 2 dresses, a blazer, and a pair of jeans for $125. Not bad really AND THEY ALL FIT PERFECTLY.
