Default I Bought My Wedding Gown!

I know I have not been active on here at all lately. I'm taking 19 hours of classes and I got engaged a few months ago and I have barely had any time to breathe let alone post on here....but I wanted you guys to know I GOT MY WEDDING GOWN!

We are not planning on getting married for at least two years, and have not set a date yet. We're paying for the wedding ourselves, out of pocket, and we're going to wait however long it takes us to save enough money for it. I don't want to go into debt for a wedding, but I don't want to have to sacrifice too much either....so we will wait.

The only reason I got the dress is because it was designed by Oleg Cassini. For those of you that don't know, he is the guy that designed all of Jackie Kennedy's clothing when she was the first lady. It was a $2700 dress on final clearance for $550, so I HAD to get it.

The only problem is....it's two sizes too small.

I haven't been losing weight recently, I have just been maintaining. I have been dealing with so much at college and moving and stress and I decided I needed to take a rest from the hard core dieting for a while.

I'm currently between 250 and 260, and between a size 18 and 20 in dress sizes. The dress I got is a size 16, and they said it can be taken up or down two sizes. If I got down to 200 I would be a size 16 dress (I think), and if I got down to 180 I would be a size 14, so my guess is 160 I would be a 12, and that's the smallest they could make it with alterations.

I have at least a year, probably two, to lose the weight. I know I can do it, It's not a big deal. Especially with the amount of running around I do on campus all day, once I start watching what I eat again I'm sure the weight will fall right off (I have been eating a lot of junk...).

I REALLY wanted to share a picture of the dress with you guys though. I didn't get any pictures of it on me, but I googled the dress and found a picture of it on another person, so I will just post that.

I think it's absolutely gorgeous! My mother and sister and his mother and sister were there when I was trying on dresses, and they all loved it too. We weren't planning on buying anything but when I saw it I fell in love, and it was final clearance so I couldn't pass it up.

I'm just so excited I had to share!

Congratulations!! It's gorgeous!!!

When I was 255 I was size 18, I got down to size 16 at about 220ish lbs, and now at 197 I'm right at size 14. Hopefully that helps you get an idea of where you might be!

It's a gorgeous dress! And quite a bargain =)

I do have to warn you, I was about 193 when I got measured for a bridesmaid dress. My street size was 14ish but my measurements for that dress landed me squarely in a size 20. Wedding attire runs SUPER small, at least in my opinion, so be on the look out for that.
