Default Valentines day sucks.

Seriously if my boyfriend can't be bothered to treat me properly or buy me flower's etc...on any other day but can some how magically remember "I'm special" because it's placed on every calender and in every store. Don't bother.

This day was created to make single people feel like ****, and dumb **** boyfriends to remember to do something nice. bahumbug!

From someone that dislikes Valentine's Day I can understand. I can also see, however, when something has caused extra aggravation in the contempt for the 'holiday'.

Hope you're okay sweets.

Maybe you should talk to your boyfriend? hihi

But I hear you on how silly it is. I've never cared for it. I'm sorta an unconventional person. I don't like anything thats tradition and that people mindlessly get themselves into because that's how life goes. Such as with finding a boyfriend/girlfriend, play house and have kids. Just because. And V-day for me represents this weird thing in our society blatantly.

I felt the same way! Now that I'm married, it is nice to anticipate the lovely lamb dinner (made by DH) and nice wine that accompanies it. We don't go out or buy each other presents but we have a nice dinner at home together. We rarely eat the same dinner or even eat together due to our schedules, so it's nice. This year we will probably have our dinner on mon or wed since DH works late on Tues.

I actually don't mind it, I know lots of people have no time for it though! That said though I'm ALWAYS single on Valentine's so maybe it gives me hope or somesuch

I really don't see the problem with one day where two people can celebrate their love. I don't see it as a day where a guy is supposed to treat the woman like a goddess, but rather a day where a couple can just celebrate being together and in love.

If that makes me a slave to commercialism or whatever, then I honestly don't care. I just like having a day where my fiance and I can celebrate our relationship and the fact that we were lucky enough to find each other.

If that makes other people bitter...well that's their problem, not mine.

So are you telling me that a day that is over commercialized is a day where you feel lucky to have found your fiance so you can celebrate? How about your anniversary, or a random day. Doesn't really make sense to me that you couldn't celebrate it on any other day?

And for everyone I really just felt like venting because I'm pmsin. hahaha

I go back and forth on it.. When i'm single, its a stupid holiday that chocolate companies and hallmark can cash in on, all while making people who are not in a relationship, feel like total crap.

On the other hand, when I'm in a committed relationship, its this amazing day where my boyfriend and I can relax and enjoy each others company, all while having an amazing dinner, a gift, an a night of great sex

Should we really be celebrating a day dedicated to "love" when we should in fact be celebrating it everyday with the person we're with, rather then going all out on this one day?....

This year I'm in the "Singles" Group...so valentines day is just for me xD

haha I'm in the "single" group. but I dated a guy last year who was a complete D-Bag never did anything nice for me, but when this "special" day came up he decided to go all out. I don't know I find it kind of stupid. That's my opinion anyways. Like if a guy puts effort here and there for the **** of it though out the year or however long, great then let's celebrate a commercialized holiday! but if you can't anytime before that...don't bother that's my whole argument.

For those of you who celebrate it and have a good boyfriend/girlfriend good for you. I'm not discussing you.

I see where you're coming from, but your opinion may change in the future.

As a married person, we are so busy with life stuff that sometimes romance and enjoying time together take a backseat to discussing bills, fixing cars, tending to dogs/kids, venting about work..

For us, holidays like valentines day or anniversaries remind us to spend some time and not take eachother for granted.

When you put it that way I see what you mean about using this day as a day for one another when you're lives are so busy.

It was really just a rant because it reminded me of last years V-day which wasn't so pleasant haha.

I've been there! My first serious boyfriend broke up with me on vday! I gave him his present.. And later pushed him into a bush.

I hope that you have a nice (every)day. Haha

I've always enjoyed Valentine's Day, and really, just holidays in general. Sure, most of them are commercialized at this point but it's still nice to have certain days to look forward to just for fun. I'm kinda girly, I guess, so I like seeing all the cheerful hearts and flowers around stores though I don't spend my money on it. Valentine's is just a nice excuse to kiss your sweetie and spend time together. You should do that all the time, but having a specific day for love and affection is never bad in my book.
