Default Challenge Yourself at the Gym

This is just sharing what I experienced yesterday so it might help some of you.

I work out regularly. I teach Zumba and teach 7 classes a week (now down to 6 as one of the gyms I taught at closed). But I've been teaching regularly since May...so constant workouts.

I even teach a 3 hour block twice a week, so I can do 3 hours of kick butt cardio. My BodyBugg tells me during those 3 hours I can burn 1500+ calories! Its tough!

Yesterday, I went to the gym to try a different class. It was a combo class with step/weights/abs/kickboxing/strength training. And it kicked my booty.

So here is what I learned: change up your gym routine! You might be able to run a 5k now, or swim for 2 hours straight, or whatever...but can you keep up in a step class? Do you have to use 5 pound weights to do bicep curls? Or if you run, how far can you swim? Or if you do the elliptical, how long can you go on the stairclimber?

Challenge yourself in the gym. Change it up. I got complacent. And while the Zumba is a GREAT workout and always left me sweaty and tired, my body got used to it to some degree. Change it up.
