How did you learn to give up your weakness???
I am seriously addicted to Buffalo Wild Wings.... They have the best food in town, and their fried pickles and cheese fries are my weakness  . But I know I need to give them up, obviously their "great food" is contributing to my not being able to lose weight. What has been your weakness, and how did you give it up???

Ice Cream, smoothies, cookies, cheesecake, ummm bacially anything with sugar =O....I Didn't give any of them up, I just learned to eat them less frequently, and ALOTTT less in one sitting. Maybe instead of eating a whole order, just eat a few of each, and share the rest with whoever else is at your table

I'm a calorie counter and nothing is off limits. I just change how much I eat. Since this is your weakness, I would recommend taking a brief break just until you know you can eat and keep it in moderation. Once you have that under control, then maybe try a small and limited portion. Plan for your extras...If you know you're going to have them in the evening, adjust your meals throughout the day or even over 2 days. You may also want to try some moderation "tricks" until you know it's safe:
1) Order a smaller portion if possible;
2) Order take out and immediately throw half of the serving away or give it to someone who does not live in your house;
3) Try to find a low calorie alternative that you can make yourself. Instead of frying potatoes, bake them. Add low fat cheese, etc.
Remember, nothing tastes as good as your goal weight will feel. These are all things I need to use for my weakness....CHINESE FOOD!!!

I didn't give up my weaknesses. I eat what I want in small portions. And I don't eat them as often as I used to so it's somewhat of a treat for me. Soda is the hardest for me because I'm pretty much a Coca-Cola/Pepsi addict. So I limit myself to one small cup a day of Coke Zero with dinner. The rest of the day I carry around a huge bottle of water with me. Sometimes I try to substitute my cravings with healthier versions of it just to cut out some of the calories (ex. cheeseburger becomes burger on a whole wheat bun, low-fat cheese, tomatoes, and lettuce)

My weakness was greasy food like burgers, pizza, poutine, fries slathered in cheese etc. Instead of cutting them out of my diet completely I now opt to make my own versions of them.
If I want fries with cheese then I cut up some potato's, put seasoning on them usually things like, chilli powder, cayenne pepper, garlic and then I bake them in the oven. When I take them out I put a limited amount of light cheese on them.
They are just as good and with 1/3 the calories you would normally consume in that kind of dish. I found you can make your own versions of most of your weakness foods and make slight adjustments to make them healthier but they are still just as tasty! I use google a lot for ideas on how to make things, I would bet you can find a way to make a fried pickle in your own kitchen

omg...why did you mention BDubs (runs, shuts eyes and screams)....that was one of my TOP FIVE addictions when I started.
I'm not kidding, I made a list of 5 HUGE NO NO's. My number 1 was french fries, from ANYWHERE. Now...I reward myself. It's not going to KILL me to eat one order of fries once every 2 months or even once a month. It depends on how clean I eat.
With my diet the way it is now, sometimes I even forget that I can reward myself with BDubs (that would be once every 2 months and still within calorie range and I'd also work my butt off in the gym before going)...
But...if you try to focus on all the NEW foods that you are consuming and learning to love...you'll find it easier. And if you MUST have BDubs, reward yourself with it once every 2 months, AFTER a GREAT burn session at the gym =)
Trust me, I know the goodness of BWW!

I agree with everyone else, just limit your portion and the amount you go to. Treat yourself once a month perhaps, because then you'll realllllly love eating there!
Also, exercise! The more you exercise the faster you'll lose weight. Also, when you exercise and get into it, you might not even WANT some of the bad food because you don't want to undo your hard work. Good luck! You can do it!

Ooooh God, there's this restaurant called The Vortex (in Atlanta). If you've ever been there, you know my pain. I still go there but MUCH less frequently. Also, I always eat half of my food and save half of it for the next day. That way I still get my favorite food, but it doesn't do as much damage. :P

I love pizza. REALLY love it.
So I didn't give it up. I still eat it.
One slice every now and then when planned is fine! I think I enjoy it more when I don't have it all the time

I will never give up my favorite foods. i may eat a lot less of them, but if i want it.. occasionally I'm allowed to have it. You cant live your whole life depriving yourself. Remember this is a lifestyle change.. not a diet.
Though there is one thing I am giving up. That is artificial sugars. No more diet soda for this girl It's just got to many potential side effects. If i want something sweet or a soda, i will just incorporate the calories into my day.

Some of my favorite foods I really did have to give up, because they are total "trigger" foods for me and I know that 90% of the time, its nearly impossible for me to just have one or have a smaller portion... so I have replaced my favorite foods with other things! for peanut butter, ill have PB2, I make vegan baked goods (they are still delicious and I think that since they are healthi(er), I dont feel like ive ruined my eating and I dont binge on them).. If Im dying for a tasty drink ill have powerade zero instead of soda... for me it was about finding new favorite foods.
hopefully enjoying things in moderation will be enough for you, I'm not in a place where I feel that I can handle that, but I am usually very satisfied with my healthier versions of things!

I know that I still have a lot to work on... And making wise decisons when I indulge and knowing when to stop when I do reward myself is one of them. Thanks everyone for all of the advice!! =D
