Do you have access to a gym? If you have a membership many gyms have something called a "hand bike" which is basically two levers that you hold on to that you cycle as you sit down. It is still cardiovascular but doesn't involve your foot. You could do that plus weights if you sit on an exercise ball for the weight exercises. That would get you through the couple weeks until you can get back to your normal routine. Hope that helps

Will he let you swim? Swimming is a great substitute if your sidelined by injury, but just check with your doctor first. Hope you feel better soon!

I was going to suggest the hand bike as well. If you can't get to a gym, you could just repeat the motion with a couple of hand weights instead (like you're pedaling a bike with your hands, back straight.

Do you have access to hand weights? You could do a lot of upper body work while sitting. Even simple things like punches can help get your heart rate up. You could also do things like sit-ups with a sprained ankle.

Consider decreasing your caloric intake a little bit, although don't stint on anything that will help you heal up soon. As JohnP's profile signature says, "use diet for weight loss and exercise for fitness."
