Smile Decided to finally come out of hiding!

I've been lurking around for a little while now and I decided that I would probably gain more from these forums if I actually posted :P So, I guess I'll give you all a little background on me. I'm 25 and I was always thin growing up (although back then I thought I was gigantic!). I was about 120-130 all through highschool. I met my now husband when I was 16 and we've been together ever since. During my first year out of highschool I balloned up to 207. I honestly have no clue why I gained so much so quickly. I guess the freshman 15 in my case was the freshman 80 after that I steadily gained a few pounds a year until I reached 235 and became pregnant with my daughter. I was actually 225 after I gave birth, but didn't make any further effort to lose more weight. Our eating habits were terrible. We literally ate fast food twice a day with tons of beer on the weekends (I breastfed for a year so I hadn't been able to drink for almost 2 years so I went a little nuts lol). My weight reached an all time high of 243 and I finally decided I had had enough. My main motivation was the fact that since we ate basically nothing but fast food, my 1 year old was also eating lots of fast food. I felt like a horrible mother and I couldn't live with myself anymore. My husband and I started calorie counting at the beginning of may and so far I have lost 30lbs. We eat very healthy. Tons of lean meat and veggies by the truck load. My daughter loves veggies and I feel like such a better mother now. I have more energy than I've had in years. Even my husbands IBS symptoms are completely gone! I am so excited to continue on this journey and be happy and healthy and a good role model for my daughter. I look forward to "meeting" you all and sharing my journey with you.

I'm so glad you decided to start eating and living healthier, for yourself and especially for your daughter! Very young children don't have a decision about what goes into their bodies; we as parents control that. As a result, my kids like so many more veggies than I do--I wasn't fed them as a child, but I have made sure to give them to my kids from the time they started solids. Now I'm taking a cue from them.

Thank you all so much for the welcomes! I am very glad that I've finally decided to get my weight and health in order. Heart disease runs on both sides of my family and my uncle actually had a heart attack a few years ago at the age of 33! (he's 10 years older than me) I wish that would have scared me enough to do something back then because I could be at goal by now lol but better late than never I suppose. I also was not taught proper nutrition when I was growing up so I do hope to do better for my daughter.

I'm glad you're getting healthy for your daughter! I'm not judging my parents in this arena, but they had terrible habits up until I was an adult, and I picked them up. I was a skinny kid until I was about seven, but they were concerned about me being underweight, made me eat more food (which was all crap anyway), and I ballooned. You're REALLY doing a great thing for your child, and saving her from what you have gone through! That makes you a fantastic mother!
