Smile Weigh in

How often do you weigh yourself? I weigh myself every Sunday in the early morning. I see many ppl weigh themselves everyday. I dont think thats good because your weight changes daily. Seeing a higher number can make someone lose hope. Anyways, let me know how often you weigh in. Thanks.

i've tried both. everyday and once a week. and both make me freakin miserable, so i prefer to do it everyday

when i was doing it once a week, after a while i started cheating more cuz i told myself i still had a few more days til my weigh-in. doing it everyday keeps me accountable, even when the lack of movement makes me frustrated. eheh.

I weigh myself every day, but only record it in my weight loss journal once a week. Friday is my official weigh in day, but I still peek at the scale every morning.

I weigh every day. I accept that there are fluctuations in my weight, so I don't get too upset if it stays the same or goes up a bit. But usually, if I'm good, I see a difference, even if it's only a small one. And I like having that reassurance that not indulging like everyone else around me was a good choice!

I weigh daily and keep track in an excel document (which lets me make a chart in about three seconds). That's always been best for me, because I know how unpredictable weight is from day to day but also see a general downward pattern.

The thing that doesn't work for me about weighing weekly is that my weight is so unpredictable that even when I'm losing very consistently, I might weigh exactly the same on any two given Mondays (or even be heavier), but then weigh two pounds lighter on Tuesday (for example). If I'm just weighing week to week, then I have to wait so much longer to see if what I'm doing is working and appropriate.

kelly315 - I do the same thing. I weigh daily and keep track in my excel sheet (although there were days I forgot to put my weight in here and there) and it's wonderful to see that chart show your weight going dooowwwnnn I started doing this when I hit 190

Mine isn't a straight downward line of course, but it is gradually going down.

I weigh in officially once a week on Tuesday and record it... but I will step on the scale a few other days throughout the week and see where I stand, if the number isn't what I want I don't let it affect me unless it's Tuesday! That's my important day!
It's funny the things you can make yourself think.

Would love to post something original - but I am the same as everyone else!

I have read the opinions that you shouldn't weigh every day - but I really don't see how anyone else can tell me what will motivate me! And to be honest I find it a bit patronizing that the experts don't think I can understand or cope with day to day fluctuations!

Friday is my weekly goal day - but I weigh first thing every day

i used to weight everyday, and did so for about a year. but i found the number on the scale in the morning was affecting my mood for the entire day, and the days i couldn't weigh myself i was anxious until the next morning when i could. i wanted to stop being a slave to the scale, so being inspired by all the women who live a scale-free life (which i knew i couldn't do) i put it away for 2 weeks and just had faith in the system. now i weigh myself officially on thursdays but keep the scale under the sink in the bathroom. i weigh myself randomly other than thursdays, but (since i'm still lazy as all heck), i usually dont' want to waste the energy on a scale and ignore it hahaha

i also weigh myself everyday more for obbsessive reasons lol i got myself into this mess becuase i weighed 115 my whole young adult life with no problem and didnt even knew what a scale was untill i moved in with my boyfriend and gained 30 pounds in 3 months! so now that scale is a reminder of lighter days lol. and also everytime i get on it and see even a .2 smaller fluctuation it lets me know i am accomplishing something! i've already lost 23 pounds and reached my first mini goal and i feel the scalle helped in that journey lol

i weigh myself everyday when i first wake up. i dont really mind doing it because for the most part i just see my weight go down n if by some chance it's a lil higher then instead of discouraging me it encourages me to work out even more.

I've done both.
But now i'm weighing daily (or every other days).
You just have to keep in mind that your weight will vary

I absolutely agree that weekly weighing allows the mind to think more about cheating. "It's only Tuesday, I have 5 days till weigh in, I can get this off by then..." It was a nasty cycle for me and just didn't work.
Weighing daily, I can tell overall that it is going down. It goes down almost daily, and if it does go up, I can look back and say, 'Oh I had a lot of salt' or 'I haven't poo'd in a couple days' lol. Seeing that number budge even a tiny bit is a great feeling! I would never go back to weekly weighing.

This, definitely this! The only time I don't weigh daily is when I'm way, way, way off plan and am not being adult enough to own up to my mistakes. (Aka, if you can't see it, it's not real! )
