Talking Back to school challenge!

Hey everyone - I figured the beginning of the month is the perfect time to start a new challenge. I've been thinking a lot about my back to school mini-goal, and wondered how many others out there are hoping to make a difference in time for the new school year. There were a TON of responses to the college girls thread so I know you're out there!

I'm not sure how everyone will want to do this, but at least it could be somewhere to chat about our weight-loss efforts and perhaps the challenges unique to students. Personally, I weigh in daily but only log it on Mondays, so I will probably post my CW weekly until September 1st.

I thought we might like to introduce ourselves a little bit and make our goals official, so here goes...

I'm going into my 4th year of my HBA at U of Toronto (Happy Canada Day to my fellow Canadians!) in Communication and Media Studies, with minors in Art History and French. My dream is to lose another 15 lbs by September and be in the healthy range for my BMI.

Looking forward to meeting you all!

I'm going in as a freshman... and I have a goal.

I want to be in a size 10 by then, possibly 8... though I'm not aiming for an 8. I'm in between a 12 and 14 right now... but my 14s have been getting a LOT looser in the past couple of days... so... I dunno!

We're the same!! I have mostly 12s and would love to be an 8. I'm not sure how many lbs that will be, but once my smallest jeans are loose I'll know I'm getting close

I'm in! I don't go back to school until the end of August, and I'll be a junior.

Honestly, it is probably at stretch but I'd really like to be 154. That is how much I weighed last year at the start of the semester, and I am still kicking myself for screwing up and gaining 20 pounds back this past year!

An 8 is about 5-10 from where you are, I wore them when I got down to 162. My mini goal is to get back to 170

I'm in! I'm a rising third year law student graduating in December, so not a college student, but unfortunately the struggle hasn't quite ended for me!

I'd love to be 140 lbs (lose 14) when I start in September. Unlike my regular weight loss goals, this one I'm doing for other people - one "friend" who told me awhile ago I should lose 20 pounds, and one "friend" who told me I "didn't look THAT pregnant." Guys don't get more mature after graduating college apparently! Anyway, both of these guys are gone for the summer and I'd love to be 140 (32 pounds lost) by the time I see them again...

I am active in the other thread, so I would love to jump on this one too! I am entering my senior year at Portland State. Have about 2 months to go before classes start, I would like to lose 11 more pounds. If I do that, I go down from "obese" to just "overweight" according to BMI, so it would be great to start the school year in a new category and working to leave that one behind!

I am a high school teacher and always look at the start of school as a fresh new start. So, I would love to join in.

By September, I would love to be down into the 170's. Right now, I am up a bit from what my tracker says (I slacked for a couple weeks around my birthday/end of school), but I am working on getting myself back into the routine.

Love this! I'm in, for sure. I'll be starting my second year of grad school September 21, and would love to show up 20 pounds lighter. So, that's my goal-- 20 pounds in a little over 2.5 months. That will also put me into the 150s, and only 2 pounds away from my lowest adult weight.

SuaSponte, I have that extra motivation, too. There's a 'certain guy' in my department who I won't see again until classes start, and I'd love to make him think "Wow, she's looking really good." Not why I'm doing this, of course, but it's a nice bonus!

I'm so glad so many of you are keen! Maybe we can have a new thread in September to help get us through the changes that come with classes starting up again.

luliv - I know what you mean by feeling held back. I really don't feel like myself at this weight. I think I'll feel more normal in another 15 lbs, and then extra good at goal

Avezy44 - I would be thrilled if an 8 was 10 lbs away! I'm not sure about you, but I'm very pear-shaped so it might be a bit further away for me, but it's definitely motivation. I'm fed up with being at the end of regular store pant sizes.

Good luck to everyone on getting through the long weekend, it's always the hardest for me!

xx

I go back to school in the end of september but yes!! I am hoping to be 250 by labor day we shall see. I am stuck at 270 atm so that is 20 lbs that will be my all time teen/adult low I dont remember a time I was 250 lbs. I remember wearing misses clothes when I was as young as 9 and 10 and into plus sizes by about 13 so it will be nice to be some clothing sizes proper for my age not someone 10-0 years older!

Wow you guys all start so late. I go back to school the 3rd week of August. I am a junior in the BSN program, so it will be a hectic fast paced year for me. My goal is to be 15-20 lbs less, so in the 159-164 range. I would love to start school in the 150's but I think 164 is a bit more acheiveable! Best of luck to everyone!

I'd love to join! I'm definitely going to need help staying motivated once school starts--so many temptations at the dining center.

Gosh, in a perfect world, I would be 199 by the time school starts. (Well, actually, if this really is a perfect world, I'd be at my goal weight! haha) But I'm shooting for 220.

That's what I was just thinking, jaimie1980. I also start the 3rd week in August. I'll be a sophomore this year. I'm double majoring in Political Science & Computer Information Systems, with a minor in Leadership Studies. Busy, busy!

Definitely jumping in! I'm going to be a Junior in the fall, and I would love to be around 130 by the time school starts the first week of September (lose 12 more pounds from my current weight). Weird to think that this will be the weight I was before the dreaded Freshman 15 took over!
