I was out to meet my mates last night and hadn't seen them in about 6 months, it was in the Pub that we met but i drove so i didn't drink and i drank water instead..
This morning my weekly weigh in i was 3lb down delighted.. if i had drank alcohol last night i most certainly would not have been down as nights that i socialise out and drink i can easily be up 4/5lb and have to work out tough for the week to lose it..
Does anyone here drink alcohol? and do you find that the week you drink it inhibits weight loss..?
what is your favourite / lowest drink and any cheats??
also watching the biggest loser final and drinking green tea.. no hangover and feeling lighter and fitter ...wooohooo
Cheers, i think it was easier because these friends i met last night a animated and very chatty so i didn't miss it.. but i am also a big fan of my nights out..
I drink Vodka and cranberry also but was warned that there are lots of sugar in the cranberry,.
i'm in total agreement on the once a month scenario, i am not ready to sacrifice my social life completely lol.. so i really like your idea of going out and then enjoying the one nights drinking, best of both worlds..
My weigh in is on Friday morning and if I don't have to work on Friday night, I usually have a glass or 2 of Beringer White Merlot or Bourdeaux.
I'm not willing to give up my red wine!
I don't weigh on Saturday mornings.
A couple of weeks ago, I made a BIG mistake of having frozen Pina Coladas! And even though I included them in my calorie count for the day and didn't go over 1500 cals, I gained 2 lbs and it took me a week and a half to get it off!!
So, Pina Coladas for me any time soon!
Last night, I'm pretty sure I binged on Merlot! I drank an entire bottle!!
Cape Cods are a close 2nd fave of mine, but I haven't had one since I started calorie counting again (April 7). They do make a "no sugar added" cranberry juice here in the states, but I'm pretty sure u can't get it at the pubs!
I used to drink most weekends. What I observed especially if I drank a lot was that i'd have a whoosh the next day (most likey dehydration), then the scale would bounce up again and stay there for aaages.
My fave drink was g&t, now I just drink the T
When I drink these days (very rarely) I keep it to one glass of (red) wine and enjoy the company. I don't ever go out and drink though, it's only every once in a while when we have friends over. I can't stomach paying $6 for a drink, it just irritates me.
i used to drink every week but it was also with a whole night of crazy dancing. i guess it KIND of balanced out? but now i try to drink less since i dont do the dancing anymore.. age i guess!
This is such a hard question. FOrtunately I've been avoiding nights out lately so it hasn't been a problem, but on the odd times I've been to the pub and I've been seen not drinking alcohol (which I am known for drinking quite a lot of... I'm a true classy lady) people think I'm crazy! It draws that much attention I end up feeling silly rather than sensible. Unfortunately I have a birthday night out to attend to soon, as well as my own dinner meal, so I'm wondering how I'm going to go about not drinking for those. I know they are only 2 nights but I'm doing really well so far and from past experience I know that once I trip up once I fail completely. :S
I mainly drink just whiskey (60c per 1oz.) I would drink beer more often, especially stout beer, but it has so many more calories. Plus it frankly costs more overall (I already can't afford all my whiskeys.) Maybe drinking alcohol is part of my problem... I haven't been drinking enough water, and my weight loss stalled quite a bit until I drank a few liters yesterday. Since alcohol is dehydrating, it just compounds the problem. So drink plenty of water!
Hard alcohol for me is just bad news all around. When I drink I tend to get properly drunk which means a)500-600 calories in tequila alone and b)random food I'll dig into. Take this example from a few days ago. I had taken my last exam for the semester and wanted to celebrate with a few drinks. A few turned into many, I then polished off a box of crackers, a container of ricemellow and who knows how much peanut butter.
If I'm drinking beer or wine I can typically just stop at one and be fine and not have any kind of stall in losing weight.

That kind of happens to me also.. the Chips after the night out not to mind the hangover food cravings the following day..
seriously 500-600 per tequilla shot?? i don't drink tequila but after a few to many when there is dancing i have often consumed Yagamiester and red bull Thats gotta be seriously calorific... Alcohol is not conducive to weight loss ... so more water and dancing i think is the answer
Alcohol affects the body (in multiple ways) regardless of how much is consumed.
These tasty drinks aren't the best when trying to lose weight because they dehydrate the body (which correlates to water retention aka the bloat), and confuses your liver (which is the detox powerhouse of the body-the liver plays a huge role in eliminating fat/sugar molecules and when you drink sugary alcoholic drinks it derails these detoxifying components and builds up).
When I do drink, I usually have a drink of my choice every other week. Sometimes its those yummy frozen mudslides or a glass or two of wine. When I go out with the girls I drink to my hearts content because I dance it all off (usually 4-5hours of dancing).

It's about 70cal per 1oz shot. So 7-8 shots of tequila. When I drink, I drink.
i here ya sister... ive been known to down the yaga bombs too... times they are a changing though... well altered hehe as long as its only on the odd occasion..
This week i have my Dad's 60th birthday and there will be champagne and wine consumed, so i'd say it'll slow matters down significantly grrrrr
