Default I am staying up til midnight tonight because...

at midnight the entries open my FIRST EVER half marathon I missed out last year and I am determined not to miss out this year! I'm also planning on being a Heart Runner, raising money for the NZ Heart Foundation through sponsorship An awesome motivator! Does anyone have any helpful training and nutrition tips or resources? Its in October But I need to be able to do 14km in about 1.5 to 2 hours. At the moment I can do ten in 1.5 hrs. So it could be tight! I need to step it up!

Anyone else been this excited about something so crazy?!?! And ultimately, painful??

Not quite as painful, but I'm on a 5K kick, lol. I had my first last Saturday and my good friend and I are now planning on running in .... well, I have 8 more and she picked 15! LOL.

Thats this year. She has some weekends that are Saturday AND Sunday. I'm working my way up, but not to THAT, lol.

So my "crazy" is my new found 5K love.

And CONGRATS on the 1/2 marathon! YOU CAN DO IT!!!

you can definitely do it! six months is plenty of time to train. in a matter of 12 days, i am running a 10k in burger suit -- i've never gone more than 5 miles in a row! ahhh.

and you mean 14 mi, not 14 km, right?

No sorry, I mean 14km- we have to be over the harbour bridge by 9:20, and the race starts at 7:00. The bridge included, thats about 14km of the total 21.09km for the whole half marathon (the whole half lol). So I need to do 14km in about an hour and a half to 2 hours. If it was 14 miles, I'd be impressed to be aiming for that in 2 hours! Or mad xD

K9- whats the runner's world website? Would you take a protein bar with you? I think i might find it hard to eat during the race, but perhaps I could add something to my water, like poweraide or something?

Does anyone have any feedback on camel packs?
