My scale at home is wacky so I use the scale at the gym.

I weight before I work out (fully clothed - I don't think they'd like it if I did it naked! LOL! ) and after I'm done to see if it's consistent. I tend to document everyday I go to the gym just to see the progress I'm making. It keeps me motivated.

I weigh in once a week (now Thursdays), naked after a number 1 and 2.

I do measurements every few months.

This is probably going to sound really stupid. But could someone please give me the proper areas that I should measure? lol, thanks.

Proper? Errr....

Well... I measure my:
-neck
-forearms (widest part)
-biceps (widest part)
-bust
-waist (where the natural bend is)
-hips (widest part)
-thighs (widest part)
-calves (widest part)

Whether or not they're the "proper" places, idk HTH

I like weighing and measuring often. People say it's obsessive and not very healthy behavior, and maybe it is, but I like to do it often so I can know what to expect. I like keeping track of fluctuations and figuring out what things cause my weight to go up and down. It helps me understand my body better so I can be more successful with my weight loss.

I typically weigh myself every morning before eating anything, and usually without clothes. Sometimes I'll weigh myself later on before bed to have an idea of what my weight will be when I wake up, but it's usually a depressingly high number so I don't. :P

I weigh myself everyday. In the morning. Naked. Sometimes twice a day. It's probably not good for me. But i've become obsessed with the number.

You sound exactly like me! It's sad to put so much stock in a number, but when it DOES budge, it just feels so.. amazing.

Default Weekly Weigh-Ins

Hi there!

I've noticed that a lot of people do weigh-ins every day on this site---but that has never worked for me. I've found that daily weigh-ins kind of drive me bonkers! I have an obessive personality, and when I weigh myself everyday, I start to get very frustrated if I don't lose a pound in one day. (Which is strange, because it shouldn't feel this way)

The way I see it is since you are trying to live a new lifestyle, there is no need to constantly think about the number. Instead of focusing on the number on the scale, I focus on how many calories I consume in a day. Shifting my focus this way has been very productive. As of March 2nd, I weighed 161, and today I weigh 156.

I come from the school of thought that believes you can't see changes every day, but instead, you will be more pleasantly surprised with your results if you do it every week.

The way I see it, is if next week, I get on the scale, and I weigh one pound more, it's time to lower my caloric intake by 100 calories. It's all just about eating less.

While it's good to focus on your weight, for me, I always got very frustrated and abandoned the whole think together.

So, now, I just weigh myself every Wednesday. I call it my "weekly weigh-in". It's made me and the scale better friends in the long run. I'm pretty sure when I was weighing myself daily we were arch enemies.
