I've been on several different kinds of BC and none have (yet) seemed to cause any kind of weight gain. Mainly it was moodiness for me and other probs that made me switch around..... But like everyone else said.... everyone's body is different! If you know you're working your butt off and eating right and you're still gaining and/or not losing... well then maybe you need to switch.

I was on bc for like 10 years and it never made me gain weight but I wanted to chime in and let you know to watch your liver levels closely on the pill. I was fine for 10 years and then all of a sudden my levels went wonky and I needed to go off the pill for good. So if you guys are approaching a long-time mile-marker, make sure check all your stats to stay healthy! It was a scary thing to go through!

don't know if it has been posted yet, but

to whoever is taking YAZ, YAZMIN etc STOP IT. go talk to your doctor to get switched. there have been MANY cases and lawsuits against this birth control distributor due to many near-death cases, including blood clots, stroke and heart attacks.
you know the stuff you hear as side effects to every birth control? yeah well, on this one it's actually happening.

just thought i'd throw out the warning, and hope that it stops someone from taking it.

When i first went on BCP my doctor told me that some people feel hungrier and some people feel less hungry and some people stay the same, so if you eat the same amount as you do now your weight patterns will stay the same. I am on microgynon (dunno what the US equivalent is), that was about 4 years ago and I've gained and lost all my weight while on it. So if you control your cal intake as per usual its likely to be ok

I gained weight on Ortho Tri Cyclen, and got pregnant on Yaz.

Somehow, I'm thinking the OTC was a better brand, despite the weight gain :-p LOL

I know some people who are on yaz too, and they haven't gained weight either.

It really depends on the person.
I am taking sprintec too, and I haven't had any weight gains from it either. I am taking it to regulate my periods and for pain during my periods. I have pcos so the pill is supposed to help, but it only helps a little bit with the pain.

I guess it just depends on the pill and the person. I have been losing weight while taking sprintec.

I have been on the pill for about 9 years now (to regulate lady issues). I started out on Apri (Desogen) and noticed a slight weight gain, but it was attributed to water weight, and went away. Lord knows, I'd love to blame my current state on the pill!

Different forms of birth control will definitely impact your body in different ways. Several years ago, my doctor decided to switch me to Seasonale (Now seasonique (sp?)), where you only have a period every 3 months. It contained a different hormone, that she thought may "jumpstart" my system. I was fine for the first three months, but by month 6, I started to have very strange feelings in my legs (like marbles...in both legs) and couldn't sleep. I was switched back to Apri, and they were gone.

It can take months for your body to acclimate to a new medication/hormone. Even if you start this current option and see a slight gain, sticking with your routine, eating well, and allowing yourself time to adjust will likely correct for it. Do pay attention to how you are feeling and any changes, to ensure that the medication chosen is the right one for you.
