Thanks bliss! I ended up cooking another piece of meat that I bought from the store. It was a sirloin strip. I seasoned it with pepper, Lawry's seasoning salt, onion powder and I made slits and put a few pieces of fresh garlic inside of the meat. On the other side, I seasoned it the same but decided to rub a little yellow mustard on it off a whim. I seared it off in a cast iron skillet and then, placed a few cut up onions on top of it and shoved it in the broiler. Talk about a juicy, flavorful steak. I'm really proud of myself as it was my first time cooking such a steak. And it was medium rare btw! A little pink in the middle and it was just fork tender.
Last night I made twice baked potatoes following this recipe. It was under 400 calories and it kept me full all night, I didn't snack once. ^^
The night before that I made whole wheat paninis with grilled chicken strips and low-fat part-skim mozzarella cheese. That was around 500 calories, but definitely filling (and yummy).
And tonight I'm going to make chicken quesadillas using whole wheat tortillas, the same grilled chicken I used in the paninis (tyson fajita strips), and some low-fat cheddar cheese.
4 slices whole wheat double fiber bed
fat free mayo
2 slices of tomato
8 slices healthy ones sliced turkey
2 slices fat free swiss/fat free cheddar ( i had cheddar DBF had swiss)
we have the griller, so it makes panini's, but we sprayed the outside of each breadslice, and put the cheese, mayo, and tomato between the slices, and grilled it up. A frying pan will do the same thing on med-high heat, just brown the bread like grilled cheese! Slice and serve once the bread has toasted to your liking! YUM YUM YUM!
As long as you use low-fat ricotta, whole-wheat noodles, and light mozzarella and/or less of it, it's pretty healthy! (I used plenty of full-fat mozzarella... lol... I guess I'm a hypocrite.)
And they're automatically portion-controlled! Two of them made a filling dinner, and if you tend to eat small frequent meals, one would probably be plenty with a salad.
Yesterday I discovered Costco's Kirkland/Martha Stewart Chili.
1 cup 220 cal and 8g of fat if memory serves and oh so filling. I had it with red onion slices wrapped in a pita. Very messy, but thats why we have dishwashers.
As soon as the weather warms up a bit, I'll be spooning them on cheddar burgers. Will have to work out all day to earn it though.
Shrimp cocktail and green BEANS! Weird combo.. I know. It's what was in the fridge/pantry. My husband had a few marshmallows as well. We joked that we're almost 100% certain that no one on earth has ever had that exact combination for dinner before.
Tonight I had a summer lasange. I used zucchini instead of lasange noodles and added tomatoes, carrots, bell peppers, garlic, mushrooms and griund turkey with italian herbs. i added a lite ceaser salad on the side.
