I looked to see if there was already a thread on this and didnt see one so I thought I'd start one.
Have you all seen the news coverage on Jessica Simpson gaining weight? She definitely looks like she put on 10lbs or so (she's really short so I think 10lbs makes a big difference) but people are making this HUGE deal out of it! The girl is still slim (a size 3 or 5) and they're calling her fat!! It makes me sick!!
Now, I'm not a huge Jessica fan. Her extreme (and intentional) ditziness irritate me and so does her voice, but she doesn't deserve this! The poor girl! I figure she's just happy and in love and she's slacked on the workouts and been eating a lot of yummy, Southern food! Her boyfriend is from the South too and women aren't expected to be stick figures there (like they are in Hollywood) so he may be happy with her being curvier!
I just think it's such a damaging messege to send, that a girl puts on a few pounds and is healthy, but gets called fat.
i dont think jessica is a 3 or a 5, personally, from the photos i have seen of her. she is probably a 8, even at 5'3 or whatever. i think she looks a little uncomfortable with herself. i think everyone has a "happy weight," and i dont think she is at it right now.
When you base your entire career on being hot, rather than on any actual talent, you shouldn't be surprised when people comment on whether your weight gain has affected that hotness.
I don't think anyone would look good in that outfit she was wearing. And I heard on the news she is a size 8 now. That's where I want to get and maybe stop so I hope she doesn't look fat!

Jess is TINY. A size 3, even with the extra pudge, is absolutely believable. I met her in Baghdad when she and Nick were still married on a USO tour, and she was 5'3" in high heels (barefoot she might be 4'11" or 5'1") and her thigh was the same size as my arm. We joked with her about it, because I was afraid to give her a hug for fear of breaking her in half.
The only famous people i've ever met that weren't primordial dwarfs are John Cena, The Rock, and The Miz.
Whatever to the haters. I'd take her figure any day of the week. The pants and funky belt thing make her look disproportionate. That's all. Good grief. No wonder we are constantly weight obsessed. Geeze....
NishKitten: Thank you!!! Yeah, she's NOT 5'3" (unless, like you said, she's in heels) and there is no WAY she's a size 8!!! LOL!! I have a friend who is 4'11" and when she weighed 132 she was a size 6. I bet Jess is in the 120's'.
Also, I've heard similar things regarding celebs. Scarlett J is considered "curvy" and fuller for Hollywood and a friend who met her said she is so skinny in person and looks like she'd blow away in the wind!!
Wow, I guess I just expected more posts in support of the girl. I'm very protective of women getting picked apart and slammed for being a normal weight rather than anorexic. I guess some people aren't that way.
leighish: I agree with you! The outfit was all kinds of unflattering!!!! I just think that some have the attitude of "she asked for it" because she used her sexiness to promote her career. Uhhh.....that's for the most part what Hollywood is about these days (sadly) and almost ALL pop singers get by on sex appeal. I don't think Jessica deserves this just because she used her sexiness to further her career. I wasn't calling you out though!!
