Default How many calories should I be eating!! help!

Ok so everywhere I look I am told different amount of calories I should be eating to lose weight!! One website calculated around 1200, another place 1600, my trainer said 1200 is low for me (but he's kinda young and a boy!) at the moment I have been eating 1500-1600 calories and not losing ANY weight even with exercise. I am 5' 5 1/2" and I weigh 160 lbs and want to lose 30 lbs. Pleas help! Thank you

There's a show on TV here (last 10 pounds bootcamp) that shows people looking to lose about 10 pounds. Their weight runs around what yours is (give or take). They usually put them on a 1500 calorie diet, so I don't think that your calorie range is out of line.

There are a couple of other things that I'd probably look at:

1 - how long have you been doing 1500-1600?

2 - how long have you been exercising

3 - are you really sure of your intake (measuring / weighing all foods) as too much 'guessing' can be a problem

The first two are important because new exercises can cause water retention and we don't know if you started yesterday or a month ago.

1500 sounds about right. I am shorter than you and lost on about 1400 calories a day. It takes a little bit of experimenting but do not go below 1200 or you rob your body of needed nutrients.

im 5'5'' and i aim for between 1200 and 1600, usually averaging in the 1500s. So that number sounds about right for you

Have you ever tried the Fat Smash Diet? You can get the book at most libraries and on Phase 1* I lost 10 lbs in 9 days. A lot of people I know have had great success with the first phase. I would suggest it especially since you're stuck at your current weight!

Hmm.. I might be guessing too much so I'm going back to basics and start measuring everything again. I've been exercising about a week now and I get my period in about 4 or 5 days but i've been stuck at this weight for over a week now. I'll tweak some things and see if theres any movement. Thanks for the help!
