Default Question about cardio?

Does cardio slow your weightloss when you first start out?
I'm wondering because I'm perfectly on plan, but haven't had a loss since I've been getting on the treadmill.

I've been fully on plan...today is day 11. I've been on the treadmill for the past three days. I have lost 5.5 pounds so far, but the scale hasn't budged since I started the treadmill.

I know...I'm impatient! But am completely committed to doing this whether the scale says what I want, or not!

Anybody have info, or links, or similar experience?

Did you lose the 5.5 without any cardio? Sometimes starting something new can cause water retention due to your muscles recovering from the activity. I'm no expert though, let's see if one of the Mods reply to your question. I know they will, that's how awesome they are, lol.

We're not awesome, we just talk too much.

Linda, it could be sore muscles retaining water, like Kim said, or it could be a coincidence. It's not unusual to have a lull in your weight loss after a huge loss (WTG! ).

So try to ignore the short-term effect on the scales. The only thing that matters is that cardio (and weightlifting) will help you get to goal faster AND looking better. And studies show that exercise is key to keeping weight off for life. So keep it up for your health and weight loss and I guarantee that the scale will keep going down, down, down.

Linda, you're doing GREAT - yay!!!! I know it can be frustrating when that scale stalls, but just KNOW that staying on plan and adding in cardio most definitely WILL result in weight loss. You keep this up and that scale will go DOWN. You can do this - you ARE doing this!!!!!

Yea, Linda!! Good work at working your plan! I know the scale will go down for you soon, and again, and again, and again, and again, and again, and.....well you get the picture!! I am very proud of you!

Linda, Great job staying on plan. You know, 3 days without a weight loss isn't really a stall. I would suggest that you either don't weigh yourself so often, or be resigned to the fact that there will be many three day periods where you won't lose weight. Keep going! You will definitely get there if you keep doing what you're doing.
