Default Any medical office workers?

I work in a medical office where lunch if provided for us by drug reps. Well they bring in chocolate and fried food and overall junk...I have done well avoiding all of these foods, but sometimes at work it's impossible when it's all sitting right there in your lunch room!! Anyone else have this problem??

Maybe the pharmaceutical industry is trying to get more patients... not that they need any! Why wouldn't they bring healthy food? A few subway sandwiches and some apples?

You should try working in a bakery (I'm a cake decorator) lots of "unhealthy" foods there just calling out to be eaten.

Who schedules the lunches with them, the Office Manager? Have him or her tell them they can come in for their sales pitch if they bring healther foods. They will do whatever they need to get their foot in the door

Are these scheduled lunches? Do you know they are coming on any certain day or do they just show up? Your best bet is to make sure you bring your lunch that day and make sure you bring enough so that you're full and not temped to dig into the crap they show up with.

Think how good you'll feel when you turn all that stuff down. It would be a good example to set for your coworkers as well..

AND.. If the drug rep asks why you're not partaking, you can tell them that you would have, but there wasn't any healthy food for you to eat.. So maybe next time they'll bring a veggie tray or fruit bowl instead.

My office won a breakfast from the local radio station. Lots of donuts and pastries. And of course, some gourmet coffees. I'm trying to just stay out of the kitchen today. Good thing I have my dried apricots sitting on the corner of my desk. Oh how I'd love to have a donut. I think I'd give away my apricots in a heartbeat for one!!! Gotta stay POP, gotta stay POP. That is my mantra today.

I know EXACTLY how you feel! I work in a 14 doctor ortho practice and we have drug reps in here all the time! I just bring my food and pass that stuff right up.... it's difficult, but a girl's gotta do what a girl's gotta do .
BUT! If you do happen to slip and have a nibble, just get right back on track! no worries!

I do bring my own lunch or else I wouldn't have lunch! Dan--they come in everyday scheduled ahead of time but they don't ever tell us what they're bringing. I have another gal in the office that is on the South Beach diet so we're diet "partners". That makes it kinda nice because we help eachother out with cravings. I haven't had ANYTHING from the office since January 1st YAY!

Wow that is good news! Maybe everyone is on a healthier eating plan for the new year..... You should probably still add in some extra water tomorrow and maybe even lemon water tomorrow am to counteract any added sodium that you usually find in the baked chickens you can buy.
