Default The Last Weekend of 2007

It's the weekend - again! How about some sliced oranges and ww bagels with the coffee?

I am trying to purge my house - and my body - of Christmas excess. Friends are coming for lunch today which will help. It'll be tourtiere and salad plus whatever other Christmas goodies I can cram into them. I pitched the chocolates but there's still baking and nuts hanging around.

How's your "holiday season" progressing? I have to keep mine going for another week and am feeling rather jaded.

I think I'll go and soak in an invigorating eucalyptus scented tub with my second coffee. Come and join me - there's a couch in the bathroom plus the throne.

We're working our way through a crate of totally awesome naval oranges and pink grapefruit that a friend sent us from Florida. Aren't they amazing this year? That's something else I have to finish up before I start Phase 1, I'm sure going to miss my fruit!

Enjoy your tubbie, Ruth. I'll just sit on the edge of the tub with my coffee since I've already had my shower. I'm purging my house of all the holiday goodies this weekend, too. We're also taking down all the decorations and trees today. I usually wait until Jan. 1, but since I have to work the day before and the day after, this weekend is a good time for me to get it done.

Other than taking down the decorations, the only other thing I have planned is to make up a menu for the next two weeks and then do a big grocery shopping. We're invited to a small party this evening, but just plan to stay for an hour or so.

Wow, it's supposed to get up to 60* today!

Thanks for th invite, Ruth! Can I bring my rubber duckie?? Let's have a facial and "do our nails" too!!

Nothing exiting going on here today. Just working this morning and the rest of the day is as yet a mystery. I did a lot of cooking yesterday, so today everyone can just "grab" out of the fridge.

I'm contemplating going to get paint to repaint my kitchen cabinets where they are chipped, but it is sheer contemplating at this point.

Good Morning, Cottage..we were posting at the same time!

Good morning chicks. Ruth- a tub sounds great... my back is feeling a little creaky this morning. And Femme will you paint my nails a hooker red. lol. Cottage- if you could come and take down my tree. I will be set. It is snowing like crazy here this morning and they are calling for freezing rain this afternoon. It is going to be a indoor snuggle up with a SBD book today. I am thinking about taking down my tree as well, we will see how that goes. Have a great day chicks.

good morning ladies,
Just the normal weekend stuff going on here. The kids have friends over so I have a house full. I would like to take the tree down but I think I will take the girls shopping after the friends leave. Have a great day and a safe one.

Hello early chicks. Yes, this is the weekend of purging - the house, that is. Last night I took all the remaining cookies over to my mother's house and made her keep them. I will be going through the cabinets today to make sure there's nothing else hanging around. I've planned my menus and I will shop later on. I wish it was Jan. 1 already! I've got another Christmas dinner tomorrow with my brother's family that we didn't see on Christmas Day, then New Year's Eve at a friend's house, then New Year's Day dinner at my mom's. Enough already! But even though I'm not starting Ph1 until Tuesday, that's no reason to not get back on plan today. So, dinners or not, I am back. I'm tired of feeling like crap. Sounds like we all have the same plan - make the menus and get rid of the junk!
Ruth, enjoy the eucalyptus soak - sounds wonderful!
Cat, no nail polish for me, it'll just be chipped up within a couple of hours! I'll have a facial though!
cottage, I can't face the tree yet. I think I'll take things down a bit at a time over the next week.
littlechick, sounds messy! Staying in is a great plan!

I've got vacuuming to do, shopping, and packing some Christmas. It's funny, I love putting up the Christmas decor, and really enjoy it while it's there, but as soon as New Year's approaches, I want it out of here! I may check out the movie listings and take the kids to see something. Any recommendations? I'd love to see Sweeney Todd, but not with the kids. Anybody tried it out yet?

Hi phxsunflower, simulpost! I had a shopping day with a friend yesterday, found a few Christmasy things for next year, but the amazing clothing sales don't start for another couple of weeks. That's when I'll buy the bulk of the kids' clothes for next year. Kohl's has started early though. They had lots of 80% racks, but I was too tired to look through them at that point. Hope you find some great stuff!

Good morning chicks!

Sipping on a cup of coffee while checking in for the day. Yet another day of cleaning...... the organizing is what it so dang time consuming!! I cannot believe that I let it get so out of control throughout the year. My mom and I did this exact same thing last year.

Ruth I would love to join you for breakfast! I think I am going to have a nice bowl of cottage cheese myself.

Schmoodle I have some Old Navy money to spend. I bought a few things the other day, but am saving the rest of it for when prices really go down. I needed a pair of jeans, but am not taking off the tags for a week or so in hopes that I can go down a size.

Cottage I am thinking I am taking down my Christmas decor as well today. I like your idea of grocery shopping for 2 weeks and stocking up.

Femme and LC Morning!!

Gotta go... it seems my children want to eat breakfast, what is up with that??

Kiko, what a great way to start the year out organized! I am jealous... I try to do the flylady thing, 15 minutes a day of organizing, but it seems that as soon as I get one room done, the rest are a disaster again. It's the maintenance that's the killer. My attic, summer kitchen, garage, basement, and office are all disaster areas right now, and one of my New Year's resolutions (again) is to get them under control!
I usually score pretty big for the kids at Old Navy. Love that place. I haven't ever gotten much there for me, because their plus sizes are cut weird, but this year I may be able to fit in their regular sizes. It'll be fun to try!

Hi all!!! It's round about bed time here but I had to check in. Found out the reason for my scale being three pounds up this morning when I got an unexpected surprise this afternoon. : At least I was at home! Let's just say it wasn't my husband, but they have the same name...

Kiko, knock out that cleaning!

Schmoodle, good luck at all of your dinners!

Phoenix, have fun with the kiddos!

LC, post all of those "Oh-I-forgot-about-that" moments you get from the book! We could all use a refresher I'm sure! And I just have to say that if you get your nails the perfect shade of red, Kadyn has some shoes you can borrow to complete the ensemble. She has a tub-ful of dress up clothes, complete with a bunch of plastic shoes that Tom has dubbed her "stripper shoes"! He doesn't say it in front of her, but it's a funny little joke he has going. I don't find it terribly amusing that he refers to our three year old's dress up shoes as "stripper shoes" but he thinks he's hilarious. What are you going to do?

Cat, hope you think your cabinets painted! That would be a trick!

Linda, enjoy your oranges and grapefruits!

Ruth, glad your bulbs got changed.

I decided this afternoon to train for a marathon that will be held next fall just a couple miles from where we're moving in Germany! They're also holding a half marathon, but I can already do thirteen miles so I figure nine months to train for another thirteen shouldn't be too far off! I'm excited, and it's invigorating to have a goal for all this running I've been doing, plus I'll really be able to put my new shoe+iPod technology to awesome use! I'll keep you all updated on my progress.

Off to heft my bloated self into bed.

Can you believe it's already the last weekend of 2007?!

Ruth: A soak in the tub sounds glorious! Ever since moving into our house, I think the amenity I miss the most is a bath tub. Sigh. One day! Good luck getting rid of all those goodies!

Cottage: Good grief. Here you are trying to finish off fruit by P1 and I'm trying to finish off some sodas and snacks. Geez. I must be a sad excuse for a SBer!! Hope your "de-decorating" goes well!

Cat: Are you still in contemplation mode? Hope you have a great day!

, LC and Phx! Have a good Saturday!

Schmoodle: Good luck with your "de-decorating". I'm fine with the decor staying up another week, but that may be because I really don't want to deal with it this weekend! I'm a huge Tim Burton/Johnny Depp/Helena Bonham Carter fan, so as soon as Sweeney Todd hits our theatre, I'm going - regardless of the reviews! I just can't resist!

Kiko: I'm feeling the same way right now. How did we acquire so much stuff?! I can't imagine the stuff you've got to go through with your kiddos' stuff thrown into the mix!

Kara: WTG on your training! I was online looking at your shoes again - still can't justify them, but man are they cool! Have a great sleep! Sorry about Aunt Flow!

Me: Lots to do today, and I probably shouldn't be putzing around the internet, but I HAD to stop in and see you gals before starting my day. (It's 10:30 and I'm just now starting my day - isn't that sad? ) DH and I have a lot planned. Workouts are our first priority, then meal/workout/grocery list planning for P1, plus unpacking, laundry, putting away Christmas gifts and straightening the house. If I don't get to the dusting and scrubbing today, that's fine. I've got tomorrow, Monday, and Tuesday to get it done. DH did put together my new vaccuum cleaner while I ate breakfast, so I'll try it out on the bedrooms. We got it on sale for $50, so I don't have great expectations for it, but if it lasts 6 months or so until I can save up for a Dyson, it will be worth it!

Well, I ought to get to the breakfast dishes. Hope you all have a great start to your weekend!

~Kim

I'm last in the tub again aren't I? We slept in today, me til 10, and dh is still in bed at 1:30pm. I see the Rome DVDs out, he must have had problems sleeping again.

I'm back down to with 1 pound of where I started the month with TOM (sorry Tom). I think a cabinet purge is in order for me too.

Ahhhh..... I am sitting in a lovely, clean home. The only thing still to do is take down the Christmas stuff. My mom is awesome- this was the BEST gift!! I have to confess to sipping on a very non-legal Phase 1 glass of red wine, though.....

The best part is that we still have a week off of school. My 2 1/2 year old was an uncharacteristic terror today. She certainly has a spunky, fun personality, but isn't typically as bad as she was today. I lost my temper on several occasions, which just makes me feel terrible afterwards. I am thinking that both girls are sensing the stress between DH and myself. We are certainly trying to keep things in check and not let it affect them, but they aren't stupid.

Anyhow, I am off to start a new book my mom lent me- it is called "Treasures of the Transformed Life." It is a 40 day Bible study. I am looking forward to getting started.

Good evening chicks,
Kiko, I'm sure you're enjoying that clean home feeling. I love it! I did some cleaning today, and mine isn't too bad, although still could use some work.
I did get menus planned, ran some laundry through, and went grocery shopping. Had some quiet time, so I made up a reading list for 2008.
I got rid of 2 kids and gained one, so I am definitely ahead there. Particularly since it is the two DDs that are out for the night, and I've got DS and his friend here. They have been entertaining themselves, as boys do, and only bothered me to ask where I hid the chocolate chip cookies.
DH has gone to bed early, but he deserved it, as he first fixed the refrigerator, and then dug through the vacuum cleaner bag to find my favorite earring.
I'd love to take a bath, but the lock on the downstairs bathroom is broken and with a strange boy in the house...
So, I think I'll find a movie to watch or do some reading for a bit. Have a great night.
