weight related? Or otherwise?
For weight, I just want to keep on doing what I've been doing - maintain the healthy diet. No specific weight loss goals, as that will follow if I can stay on plan.
My biggie is an exercise resolution - to find an exercise routine I can stick to. By this time next year I want it to be a habit.
And by the way, it is SO nice to not have "this year I have got to lose some weight" as my #1 resolution for the first time in 20 years!
I just know 2008 is going to be fabulous!
I'm re-committing to my strength training. I'm happy to keep running, but as these last 40-ish pounds come off, I want to tone up and define
Rhonda - you absolutely CAN run... I was over 240lbs when I started the C25K the first week of June '07... now I run 4 or 5 miles three or four times a week - and I'm building up my distance all the time You go, girl!
For health, I just want to keep on eating healthy and exercising - by staying "on plan" the weight will come off so I'm trying not to attach a pound number to it.
Otherwise, I have been wanting to start writing a book so I'm going to start with a children's book for my niece and nephew and hopefully have it ready for them by Christmas 2008. Oh, and to get out of this apartment and into a house of my own!
Weight - I want to hit Onederland this year. At the moment I'm sitting at exactly 248, so I need to lose just under a pound a week. That's achievable.
Exercise - I've worked into a nice routine of 4 gym visits and 2 swims per week. That's working, so I'm going to stick with that.
Food - I know that planning is the key for me, so I'm going to plan things a bit better than I have been for the last couple of months when I've been maintaining. I know what to do and how to do it, I don't take the time to sit down and plan.
I'd like to maintain my abstinence this year. I'm not setting any weight goals, but I'd be lying if I said I wouldn't like to lose some weight too!
As for exercise goals, I have dance classes planned 3 times a week (4 hours). The Viennese Ball is in June, I'll need a gown for that. Then for biking I'd like to get back up to 50 miles a week by February (I had to stop riding for 6 weeks, I had a broken thumb). I'd like to take a bike tour of Tuscany in the fall. 30 miles a day for a week--OUCH! I've got to get my saddle, as it were, in shape for that.
weight related: to hit 130lbs
fitness related: to do the race for life in may (tis only little distance but a start!)
giving related: to give blood regularly
me related: stop biting my nails
experience related: to do something new/go somewhere new once a month
To work on my running. I've made a lot of progress since August, but I would love to be able to run 6 miles per day instead of 3, and I'd also like to participate in a marathon.
Also, if I get into graduate school, I want to do well; and if I don't get in again this year, (this is my second round of applications) I am determined to reapply and not just lay down and give up.
Edit: It occurs to me - what if I were reaching the new Year without having lost any weight? That would be a horrible place to be! I'd probably be at 250 lb and would give up after a few weeks. I'm so glad I've already made progress.
My husband and I have already determined that "2008 will be GREAT!"
My big plan is to not only hit ONE-derland, but surpass it - and achieve my weight loss goals. I know if I can maintain a healthy 2lb loss every week I will have no problem hitting goal of 135 by Christmas next year. I will accomplish this by correcting my eating habits that have gone crazy as of late and commit to a regular exercise routine.
My other big goal is to finish grad school. I have only 4 classes for my Master's Degree in Library Science.
On the personal, non-weight related side I will be a better family member this year by remembering birthdays and special events!
I know there is more, but these are the BIG THREE!
I'm absolutely positively THRILLED that I'm going into 2008 without that dreaded " I have to lose weight" albatross tied around my neck! I'm soooo happy I'm already DOING it, and am on my way. My goals are
1. to keep doing what I'm doing
2. increase walk time
3. volunteer more
4. continue my love-affair with my DH and SHOES hehehehehe
I know I'm going to sound like Valerie in the Jenny Craig commercial, but for the first time in about 20 years my resolution is not going to be to lose weight (I made my goal right before Christmas). I do plan to work really hard at maintaining my weight loss and continue to increase my workouts. I'm also going to work on general self improvement like keeping a positive attitude!
I also plan to do a lot of shopping for my new figure
