Default Weekend on the Beach

Good morning, everyone. I'm still working but have hopes that we will be done soon. I started at 10PM last night and it's 5 hours later. We still have one server that we can't log onto but we've called someone in Canada to have them reboot it locally.

I've got to be at the Leaf Rake service project in 5 hours so I don't think I will get much sleep. Maybe I can at least sleep 4 hours or so. We're going to try and have a garage sale tomorrow too. We won't be able to do it on Sunday since we've got a 40-50% chance of rain then.

I finally got a visit from TOM tonight. I was 8 weeks late so I'm glad it finally came. I see the doctor for my physical on Monday and I'm going to ask to go back on the Pill. Being this irregular is a pain.

I stayed calm this evening and didn't get upset with Robert even when talking to him about the $400 he spent on stuff he thought we needed and I didn't. I tried to explain that with over $2300 in medical bills for his hospitalization and $900 in car repairs and $500 in garage door repairs (not to mention the $40,000 pool we are putting in) that I just didn't feel that we should spend any extra money. I guess he felt that since I spent the money on the pool that I should be willing to spend money on stuff for the house. Men!

Barbara, I hope you get a little shut-eye before you have to go a-raking! Good luck with getting things ready for the yard sale!

We haven't left the house all day. It's been a bit bonkers. Avery has had two "happy undies" days in a row, though, which is very exciting - no accidents at all!!! I'm so excited. She's still in diapers for nap and bedtime, but it looks like we've crossed into diaper-free awake time!

Gotta get the kitchen cleaned up.

Morning to you, too, Schatzi! Hope your errands go well this weekend and that you get some great chicken! You can have my portion, OK?

Barb, way to go on keeping your cool even though I know you probably wanted to throw HIM in the pool.

Kara, a big hug to Avery! I remember buying eyelet panties for my oldest when she was doing the potty training bit. I told her "These are big girl panties and they can't get wet!" And that was pretty much it! We did have one accident I remember in the grocery check out line. Marie was sitting in the buggy, then the floor was wet. Luckily the check out lady had a roll of paper towels and spray behind the counter. Marie is now 26 and doesn't wet her thongs either! The boys were another thing entirely. I used to put a square of toilet paper in the potty and told them to sink it...they loved it. They are 23 and 20 now and I'd assume are pretty good at sinking it still.

Schatzi...wow, icky weather! I'll have to call my sister to see if they are ok with the electrical stuff. Stay safe. It is supposed to get up to 80 here today believe it or not. It was in the low 30's a few days ago. Crazy Louisiana weather...never predicatable. Right now it is very foggy, muggy and creepy..I love the way the spanish moss in my tree outside looks in the fog.

Hey Leenie...I love your avatar. AYBS is one of my all time favorites.

I'm trying to get a little work done, then we are going to go on our little field trip.

Good morning to all,

I've been awake off and on since 2:30, listening to Jake hacking away. He's all huddled under a quilt on the couch with a woebegone look on his face. Now, mind you, I've had my cold all week and have been hobbling around with a sore ankle and hardly complained at all, going on with my life, but he acts like it's the end of the world when he gets sick!

So I don't know what we're doing today. Right now we're getting a freezing rain, so I'm content to just settle in here at home. I'll probably do some baking a little later. Jake's asking for his oatmeal chocolate chips, Pecan Tassies, and peanutbutter kisses. I want to make a few varieties of biscotti and pizelles, too. I'd better check the pantry to make sure I have everything I need.

Barb, it's no wonder you're irregular, what with the stress you've been dealing with! I hope you get a chance to sleep before you have to start the day.

Schatzi, we were lucky to miss that ice storm yesterday, we got snow all day, but it's icy out this morning. It's really looking Christmasy! Have fun shopping in Highpoint, I've heard so much about the great deals on furniture that you can find there!

Kara, hurray for Avery! That's a big accomplishment!

Leenie! Nice to have you pop in!

Cat, I used the same "big girl panties" concept while potty-training, too. It really works! I wish I would have thought of that trick with potty-training Dustin, though. We'll have to remember that when Tyler is ready. Could you send us some of that 80* weather?

Morning, Linda! Sorry to hear that Jake is sick. Men do have quite an armageddon attitude toward being ill!

Cat, I love your sink-the-paper story! Avery loves her big girl undies and she is so excited to wear them like her big sister! I'm a huge proponent of early potty training. Who wants to change all those diapers? I should figure out how much money I've saved in diapers by training early!

I just got done a Tae Bo video. I was sitting on the couch flipping through the channels and there was nothing on, and I said to myself, "This is a sign. I should be doing something else." So I popped in the DVD and got to it! Now time for a shower because I am not getting under my nice, clean sheets all sweaty like this!

I'm sure I'll check back in later!

Had to share these. They're from a couple days ago, but she's just so funny! Avery is definitely the clown of the family!!!

(First one is Avery in a predicament on the potty and second is Avery in Tom's boxers - don't worry, they were clean, she got them off the drying rack!)

Morning chicks,
I had a terrible night's sleep last night. I woke up from a bad dream around 2:30, then worried about DD2 for a while, then about DD1 for a while, then watched a dumb movie for a while. Finally got back to sleep around 6, then DS thought he'd get me back for tricking them when they woke up on Thursday snow day and telling them they overslept and had to get ready for school quick, so he poked me awake at 8 and told me we were running late. Funny guy... Now I'm sipping coffee and preparing to go weigh myself. I shaved my legs last night, so I'm ready to go. Just hoping I can pee one more time.

Barb, hang tough lady! Hope you can get a nap in today!
Kara, congrats to Avery! what a cutie she is! Wish I could have two "happy undies" days in a row (did I really type that?). My oldest DD was an overnight potty trainer too. Handed her some pretty undies, explained things, she said okay, and we were done. She spoiled me for the other two, who took YEARS.... And judging by the state of my toilets, both of my boys are still working on their aim.
Stay warm and safe Schatzi!
Hello Leenie! Come visit longer next time.
Cat, have a great field trip and enjoy the warm weather!
cottage, more power to you, being in a house with all that baking. No way I could resist!

Not much going on around here this weekend. I want to finish my weekly cleaning, grocery shop, and run out to buy a few gifts. DD gets back tomorrow morning and I think we'll go and get the tree and get that put up. It's supposed to warm up here too, so hopefully the ice will melt. Have a good one chicks.

Schmoodle, I can't wait to see your little penguin friend get to the end of his ticker! Just sit on the potty until you have to pee!!! (Don't do it in your undies or that will be extra weight...)

Good Morning
I did yoga yesterday an apparently I had underestimated the actual workout part. I have muscle in pain that I didn't even know were there. I absolutley loved it though and I only fell twice. I also only had to do 2 of the poses modified so I'm pretty proud of myself today

Barb Good luck with everythng and I hope you get some rest.
Kara Avery is adorable. Tell her congratulations on the happy undies days.
Schatzi Glad you got your electricity back and congrats on DH's award. Have a great time shopping but stay warm.
Femme Have a great day and enjoy the weather.
Cottage Enjoy your baking. I'm sorry to hear Jake is sick. Hope he feels better soon for his sake and yours
Schmoodle Good luck with weigh-in. Have a great day.

FH and I are going to Pasadena for Christmas shopping today. It should be alot of fun but they are still expecting some rain so we'll see. Off to shower and get ready. Have a great day !

Hey Dawn! I've been meaning to tell you...DH stands for "dear (or darned!) husband". I'm thinking you mean to write DF if you're talking about your fiance...

Have fun in Pasadena!!!

Happy Saturday, Chickies. By the time I get in here most mornings lately there are way to many posts. Sounds like everyone is doing fine.

Hersh and I are off to visit Harry this morning - if he's as cranky as last time, it'll be a short visit. I'm supposed to go to a tea this afternoon but am planning to opt out and avoid the food porn fancy sandwiches - and some boring and snobby people. The older I get, the pickier I get about how I spend my time.

It's a fairly mild day (just at freezing) so friend Rob and I may get the outside garlands and lights put up. No promises!

Haven't had breakfast yet - back later.
