One of the professors that I supervise examinations for overheard me talking to a friend about how annoyed that I am that it's winter and that I have to stop doing my walks until:
a. it warms up considerably
b. I'm healthier (I am currently suffering from bronchitis).
I was saying that we were going to be going out to buy an elliptical over the weekend, that it might break us - but that if we don't get it - we'll keep making excuses not to.
So while it's quiet, Abdel (the professor... a real charmer at 80 years old) brings me an envelope with $50 and says that that I am such a nice person and that I deserve a healthier life. He's proud of how I have changed things and that he would like to help out with the purchase of the elliptical.
I told him I couldn't possibly take it, and he says "this is from one friend to another. You are like a daughter to me, you are so kind and you deserve the help".
I almost cried
