Default Back on the Beach for Ms. JessieW

time to stop lurking and getting back to showing my face around here! It is has been an interesting fall to say the least, and the results have been a lot of packing on the pounds. We've been trying to get pregnant which was pretty much made stagnant by the fact that my period has disappeared without pregnancy being the reason. Went to the dr. last week and he thinks it's very likely I have PCOS (where is my kimstar?! we have more in common that we thought!!). I've been reading a book that says if your sister has it you are 40% more likely to have it, which my sister does. That said, the best treatment is a low-GI diet. So here I come. Again. If I want to ever get pregnant and have a healthy pregnancy this is going to be medically necessary. but i need your help and enthusiasm and perhaps a swift kick in the rear now and then.

love
jessie w

Hello! I'm new here but loving all the encouragement and ideas!
Good luck - I'm positive that once the weight comes off, that you'll have an easier time getting pregnant, and a much easier pregnancy too

Hey Jessie! Glad to see you back! You know what's weird? My older sister went in last week for testing to see if she has PCOS. I'm glad you're back. DH and I are still working hard to get into better shape, but I've decided to go back to school in the spring, so kiddos are on hold for now!

Kara, I think I am going to do phase 2 or 1 1/2 until after Christmas...making changes for the better.

Kim, I got back my bloodwork today. My thyroid is normal, testosterone levels are slightly elevated. I go to a gyno. on the 20th to find out more.

Thanks for the warm welcomes!

Default Jessie!!!!!!

JESSIE JESSIE JESSIE!!

How ironic? I had an appoinment yesterday with my endocrinologist. I too had a normal thyroid, but my testosterone levels were slightly elevated. My gyno appointment is this coming Monday where I will find out more.

I have had signs of PCOS all the time and didn't know it: hair loss, hair on my chin and chest, etc. However my menstral cycle is completely regular as I follow Natural Family Planning, so I take my temperature daily and know exactly what is going on with my body. I don't take birth control and never have.

I've been back on SBD since 10/23 and I am down a total of 23 lbs from my highest weight. I will be on Phase One until the week of Christmas (12/24) at which time I will start adding back and moving into Phase Two.

In a way, I feel empowered to know what is going on with me and that there are things I can do about it. I hope you feel the same. You are in my prayers!!! You can do this!!

Hugs,
Sabby
