Default Does it work?

I read the "Does it Work" forum and my heart just ached for these poor people who are still waiting for that wonder drug to take before meals, that magical powder to mix with your coffee, that miracle belt to wear while you watch television.

It's sad that we are so desperate for weight loss to be easy that we are so willing to suspend our disbelief and completely toss common sense aside? I am very thankful for this sensible, thoughtful, and down-to-earth support forum and I just thank each and every one of you.. it's been a great month and I could not have done it without you!!!

Ditto to everything you just said........it makes me sad when people ask how I've lost the weight and as soon as I say eating healthy and exercise they completely tune you out, like you're not even talking much less answering their question. Everyone wishes there were a quick fix, but that's just not reality.

its because people today want everything and the want it now! They dont have to go outside to turn their cars on in Winter anymore because of technological advances, so they want the same sort of ease when it comes to weightloss. Americans and Brit's too are becoming so incredibly lazy. Anything to save me having to actually move further than my tv/computer room to the kitchen is just too much.

We're sorta becoming a society of convenience. Its a wee bit sad, when you see it being the cause of the rise in obesity levels in these two countries, and people dont want to fix it the normal safe way. They want it done and they want it done now.

I totally agree Kelly. When I tell people I eat often and I'm never hungry they look at me like I'm telling them I a story. Not the reality of it, that it keeps my metabolism working and I eat healthy foods every 2 1/2 - 3 hours all day long.

I have never been to that forum, but think for me personally, I have learned enough from reading , listening to the news, ect.. That quick fixes won't do the job. Loosing weight takes hard work, it is about planning, desire, commitment, and the payout is a great healthy you. These people who do these quick fixes, do not understand that the weight will come right back on, once they stop their quick fixes. It is sad.

I have found the same thing. When someone asks what are you doing to lose the weight? I start talking about lowering my fat intake, taking control of portion sizes. Right about there I start to see their eyes glazing over and I can tell they wanted to hear about a pill, a powder, a drink that was taking the weight off. If it were that easy do you really think there would be so many different programs out there trying to get our money? NO, there would be a pill, a powder, a drink that we all buy and presto there goes the weight.

Just doesn't happen that way. We work at it. We decide I ate this yesterday I do not need to eat it today. We decide what we are going to put into our mouths and take responsibility for what we are doing to our body's.

I also try to make sure I eat 6 times a day. Eating more often, works with my tummy problems better than bigger meals. I still am not eating enough AND I can tell when I eat more I lose more weight. The body needs food.

I have to agree. I do suffer from wantitis sometimes so I do undertand where they come from. I also have grown a little afraid of those "quick fixes" when it comes to health and the schock that gets put on the system...I may be having heartattack after heartattack but don't I look good?
Even though I struggle...patience is a virtue for a reason.

I'm reminded of something Oprah said recently on her show. She said that if there was a "magical cure" to weight loss don't we think that she would own it? She said she would climb the highest mountain to get it and buy all of it. She hates working out, but understands that is what it takes along with sensible eating. There are no easy fixes!

You are right. People that have tons of money would never be fat. They would take the magic pill. If they don't have it. It doesn't exist.

We get asked all the time how we've lost the weight and y'all are right - no one wants to hear it's about lifestyle change and not just some easy "fix". I mean - I'm okay with them asking, but it gets a little frustrating when the answer is pretty simple and they don't want to hear it. I guess it's just not their time yet.

I totally, completely, 100% agree with this statement. I always thought I was ready and went through the motions but this time is different and I can feel it in every fiber of my being. My mother has some significant health problems that could be fixed with healthier eating and moderate exercise. My husband asks why I don't get her on plan with me and all I can say is, "She's not ready, she has all the information she needs to make changes, she's just not ready. I'll be here to support her when she's ready (let's hope it's soon).".

I also believe laziness plays a big part but when you're ready you'll do what it takes.

One of you girls that has lost a lot of weight should do something funny just for me (I have a long way to go before it will work for me)... the next time that someone asks you how you lost so much weight, come up with the biggest most ludicrous whopper you can imagine. Tell them you drank a shot of dog urine before every meal, tell them you tried the new "Bark and Dirt" diet, tell them you went to a psychic who discovered that your fall cells were really disembodied spirits and she coaxed them off with a seance... Come up with something crazy and see if they want to know all about it!!!!
