Default Katie's Skinny Minded Chicks

Okay folks, I hope that you will all bear with me, I would like some help. I want to try something for a week, and I would love you all to try it with me. I am proposing a week of focusing on being skinny. No weighing, no fretting constantly about weight, just following plan and thinking thin. To do this, we have got to eliminate certain words from our vocabulary and thoughts. Words like fat and weight loss need to be replaced with thin, skinny, tiny, slim, and perfect weight. Every time you look in the mirror, say "Hello skinny!" Everytime you get dressed, think about how great you look in your teeny tiny pants. Picture yourself at your perfect weight, and picture that body every time you look down or look in the mirror. Really work at keep your thoughts focused on thin thoughts, and stay away from negative thoughts at all costs. I would like to start tomorrow, and keep going until next Monday. This may seem strange to some of you, but I am really hoping that we will get a big team giving this their best shot. I know that the power of the mind and positive thinking can do amazing things. Who is willing to be a part of my experiment?

I'm with you. I have gotten a little lazy, both with food and the gym. I want to focus on feeling satisfied and not stuffed, as well as feel my legs getting lean and muscular again. These feelings can't be measured by a scale.

I subscribed to Vogue and Elle last summer when my weight was at its lowest, and imagined myself in the clothes. I am feeling a bit flabby now, and tend to focus on how nice something would look on my 13-yr-old daughter (who is tall and model-thin). I want that feeling back that I had last summer.

I tend to be hit and miss lately---my center closed last summer, and it has been harder to maintain my focus. I think this is a great idea you've stumbled upon.

I'm doing a similar thing (with affirmations) for instance I'll say "I don't eat junk food" or "The things I eat help my body stay strong and healthy."

I really think that sometimes you write a script, you say it a few times and then reality sort of follows the script?

For me, I don't like words like "skinny" or "tiny...." I don't aspire to be either of those things, personally! I use fit, strong, healthy, muscular as my "positive" affirmations.

I think any positive thoughts about your journey to an ideal weight are wonderful.

Good Morning to all my Healthier Friends. Hope you all had a great weekend. Katie I think this is a wonderful idea. I know, personally, that I tend to be a little hard on myself when I look in the mirror and don't see much difference after all my hard work at attempting to stay on plan. I truly believe if we all change our attitudes about how we look will greatly affect the way we view ourselves and it will only improve our self confidence.

Kaite........this is so true When I quit smoking, everytime I wanted a smokie treat, I told myself, "I am so happy that I am tobacco free." I had gone to a hypnotist years before that said that your brain really does learn through repitition, whether it is positive or negative.............and it totally worked for me I also did this many years ago when trying to, "change my mind," about my body image...........I pretended that I was already at my goal weight and was just trying to maintain it. I know from experience that maintaining is not easy, but thinking of losing 50 + pounds can be a bit overwhelming. This is good, Katie........very very good. I will certainly join you.......but I have to WI tomorrow to see if my gain is a fluke or not. After that, I will put my slcae (look a new version of the word....I do have mad skills), and join you on your experiment 100%!!! Thanks, girlie I so need to feel good about myself before my vacation!
XOXO

OK - I am in too. Consider this, when Oprah had those folks on and did the show about "The Secret", they basically said the universe will give you what you ask for and when we constantly think thoughts about being too fat, not losing enough weight, the universe will respond and give you what you are spending all your energy thinking about. It doesn't differentiate positive or negative thoughts, just the thoughts themselves. So, this 'challenge' makes all the sense in the world. We think about that we are building healthier bodies that are slimmer and trimmer and the universe will give us what we are concentrating all our energies on. Crazy??? I am willing to try it and think thin, healthy thoughts, cause thinking about how much weight I want/have to lose is NOT working.

I also have some self affirming CD's that I bought a couple of years ago and it was a lot about positive imaging. Close your eyes and imagine yourself how you want to look, start doing the things people who are slim and healthy do (exercises, be responsible for your food intake, all the stuff we are doing ) and the philosophy behind the CD's was that you will create for youself what you want, a lean healthy trim body.

Make sense? Or do you'all think I have totally lost my mind.?
