Question Atkins Bars & Shakes

Hey there,

I'm totally new to this site, but I've been doing atkins for about 4 years. I've sort of stalled out and actually put on some weight (10lbs). I'm looking to get back on the plan and I'm thinking of setting my induction up like:

Breakfast: 1 Atkins Bar (3 grams carbs)
Lunch: 1 Atkins Shake (2 grams carbs)
Supper: Salad with protien (12 grams carbs)

Has anyone tried this with any success?

Hi Alice, I havent tried any of the Atkins bars or shakes so I'm not realy any help here, they have a lot of sugar alcohols in the form of glycerine which I'v heard can cause problems for some people, I prefer real food. I just want to say Welcome to the board, and come join us in our weekly thread, everyone here is very helpfull and supportive.

Alice!

Puncezilla is right...it is best to stay away from those Atkins bars even though Atkins Nutritionals is advertising they are "appropriate for Induction". They contain glycerine, which is a sugar alcohol. They also contain soy, peanuts and milk which are not on the acceptable foods list for Induction.

Atkins Induction is about eating real food. Those bars & shakes may be OK in an emergency but...using them everyday does not encourage changing your eating habits which is what ultimately must be done to acheive successful. permanant weight loss for a lifetime.

All the best to you on your continued weight loss!!

Kim

Thanks so much for that! I will try the "real food" method instead. The only reason I wanted to try is just that I'm super busy and I can't really find time to make meals and snacks.

Alice, to find the weekly chat go into the Atkins and other low carb forum, and there is a new chat thread every week (marked chat with dates usualy). there are other threads there too, so feel free to jump in anywhere.
I dont like to cook much so I always make sure I have leftovers and handy snacks.
