Default Alterna-Ages?

Hi Guys...

Just checking it out over here.

Was wondering if there is anyone over 30 over here? Not that it matters. Just curious I suppose. (I am 33 BTW)

I guess I sorta qualify as an alternachick so I may peek in now and then.

I've never posted in this section but have come in to read a few threads. I'm 32 I guess I'm an ex alterna chick in my past life before I got a job with The Establishment But in my heart of hearts I'm still an alterna chick!

I'm 34 but I think my psychological age varies between 12 - 16!

And yeah hey where in Chicago are you? I grew up in beautiful Crystal Lake IL and lived in the city for about 4 years before I moved to London. I lived in a few different neighborhoods but my favorite was Logan Square.

Nice to see a good range... like i said it doesn't matter I was just curious! I think I'm forever stuck at a younger age too.

Chicago is mad-expensive these days so when we went looking for a house we had to go farther out west then we wanted in order to be able to afford a small 2 bedroom bungalow. I live in Mayfair, which noone seems to know where that is... It's about 2 miles west of the last stop on the brown line. It's a nice quiet neighborhood which I like but nothing much happening there.

I've also lived in Lincoln Square and Albany Park.

Logan square is cool but it's been changing a lot lately and is being taken over by the wicker park yuppies. Which is all fine and good because there are some very cool shops there now, but it also means it was out of our price range too. Blah.

How anyone can afford to live here is beyond me!

Anyway, Nice to see you guys maybe I'll fill out the intro form a bit later.

Haha! It's not your fault!

Nice range of ages here. I think that's a good thing.

Logan Square: yeah I know it's gotten yuppified. Didn't think it was a good sign when the Starbucks went up on California. (Didn't stop me from going there though!)

How did you end up in London?

I've always wanted to visit England.

Maybe as a goal weight celebration? Who knows!

Idealmuse I wanted to escape America and become an expat living a romantic Bohemian lifestyle in Prague. I ended up meeting Mr. Boyfriend on a stopover in London and a few months later moved there instead. 5 years later I am still here! (Much to my mother's chagrin.) It's not easy being a prisoner of love but there are worse places to end up..

WOW how funny! I was born and raised in the Logan Square area! We moved out to Fox Lake when I was in middle school and I stayed there until I was 19 and joined the Navy. Now, years later (I'm 41), we're settled in beautiful North Carolina. Ironically, a girl I graduated from high school with lives about 30 minutes from me.

To the main question, I'll be a young 42 in October!

Fox Lake! That's near where my parents grew up, and where my brother and sister-in-law live now!

Small world, isn't it?

My best friend, who now lives in Seattle, is from Crystal Lake Of the few neighbourhoods I lived in, Lakeview was my fave, but I have no idea what it's like now. I used to live on Roscoe, between Halstead and Clark. It was fairly up and coming gay when I lived there, but not only that, there were some great shops around there, the Belmont El was closeby and my favourite supermarket Treasure Island just around the corner (with the Jewel across, in case I couldn't afford TI!). I left in 1990, but I still miss it.

I don't know where Mayfair is, but I know it was expensive when I lived there so it can only be worse now!

I lived in Wicker Park for a while and also in Rogers Park
