Default Strength training or Weight training

What is the difference between the two? Is there a difference? Do you just lift weights?

There isn't a difference. Lifting weights help builds muscle which helps reshape your body and also boosts your metabolism.

There are certain methods that those that are going for pure strength use as opposed to those that want just to build muscle.

Well, short answer - yes. You might be better off looking in the Ladies who Lift area. There are a number of stickied threads that discuss the difference. Basically you lift differently (amount of weight, number of times, etc) if you are looking to improve your strength, or to lift heavier weights. Either way, building muscle is great for weight loss. Muscle is more metabolically active, plus a pound of muscle takes up much less room than a pound of fat, so you look smaller even though the scale may not move as much.
