Default waist measurement

So the other thread on measurements got me to thinking. I've always heard that you should measure you waist at the smallest part in between the bottom of your ribcage and your hips. For me this has always been at my bellybutton, until recently. Now all the sudden my "waist" is two inches above my bellybutton. Has this happened to anyone else? Or am I just weird?

My waist (as defined by the smallest part between my bust and my hips) has always been several inches above my bellybutton. I've always considered my bellybutton part of my upper hip. We're all built so differently aren't we!

Yep . . . my waist is built like Tammy's . . . has always been a natural indentation a couple of inches above the belly button. Just wish there was less of it . . . hopefully it will eventually diminish.

I measure the smallest point between the bottom of my rib cage and the top of my hips, which is several inches above my belly button. My belly button sits right smack in the middle of my hips.

My belly button is right at the biggest part of me....like 1/2 of a giant inner tube sitting on my body! My waist is a good 3 inches above. I've lost a lot of inches on my waist and not so much off the inner tube.....can't wait to let the air out of that thing!

This thread had me running for the mirror in my bathroom! I was hoping that I was like the majority of the respondee's but my belly button is smack dab in the middle of the my waistline.

Now I'm off to add a "belly button below my waistline" to my wishlist.

It's still weird to me, but thanks for making me not feel like a freak! And yes I agree, it's strange how differently everyone is built. I've never really thought about it before, but now I've been noticing all the different shapes of the people around me.

If your waist is above your belly button, where do your jeans go up to?
