Default Weird question for gym-goers

Okay, this isn't exactly about exercising, but it is about the gym!

The gym I go to hands out locks with laminated cards on them that have the combination on them. What in the world does one do with that laminated card while they work out?! I feel like a goof carrying it around with me while I work out, and even when I do that I have a tendency to forget it on the machine I was using and embarrasingly have to go back after and explain to the person who's currently on it what I need. :P

I could just not take it with me, and try to remember the 3 numbers, but I'm terrible with things like that, and if I forget them then I'd feel foolish going up to the front desk and explaining te situation.

I feel like I'm missing something, here... what is to be done with that little card?!

Talking Cards

Is there any hole in the card? There is with the way my club does it and I use a safety pin. I wouldn't hesitate to ask the staff, they probably have some good tips because if it annoys you, it probably annoys others too.

Do you have to use their locks? Can you get your own and memorize one combonation? My gym does not provide locks. There are a few lockers that are coin operated. Most are just open. I put my own lock on it. It took a few times to remember the combo, not long.

you could always write the combination on a piece of paper and even though this is gross, put it in your sock. Most likely the fear of dealing with a soggy piece of paper will scare you into memorizing the combination, and if you don't you still have it and don't have to deal with the front desk. :-)

I dont have a laminated card gym...I have my own lock...but even so Im terrible with numbers...what I do is put the combo into my cel phone and clip the phone to my bra (facing Out). Its probably more cumbersome than the card...

Hm, I like the safety pin idea. I really could get my own lock, but they automatically hand you one when you give them your student card (campus gym), and I'm the kind of person who'd get annoyed having to say "I have my own" every time they thrusted a lock at me. I guess I'm weird like that. :P

And yeah, my workout pants definitely don't have pockets.

I have workout towels with a zipper pocket, they are wonderful! I just zip up my card, car key and chapstick and all I have to remember is my rag and water when I work out.

All my workout clothes have pockets... I never thought that others wouldn't have that... helps, since I'm always carting around my locker key, a sweat towel, lip balm and a drink bottle, plus headphones and maybe a book if I'm doing certain cardio.

Do you take a drink bottle with you? Even if you don't, maybe it's an idea... you could either write your combination on the label each time OR use an elastic band and secure the card around the bottle.

The other option, if the card has a hole, is tie it into your shoelaces~ slip it one and then tie them. For my lock, I took the combination and added (or subtracted) a certain number, then I wrote the new numbers on a piece of tape and taped it on the back of the lock. That way I only need to remember one number.
