Wink Day 1 of the rest of my life

Hi everyone, I'm back to posting regularly.

I was on track back in October and then my dad died in November.
In the time since then I've done alot of soul searching as to what gets in my way on my weightloss journey and what works for me.

Back in 2004 I lost 45 lbs for my wedding, what stopped me was that the goal was just to keep going until the wedding....guess what I quit as soon as the wedding was behind me.
I lost the weight following atkins, and so I know it works for me and that refined carbs are not my friends.
soooooo......my goals for 2007 are:

-To be up to 60 minutes of excercise 6 days a week by March 5th (I've been adding 5 minutes per week for 4 weeks now and added a day last week so this week I'm up to 35 minutes 6 days a week.) and keep this as part of my routine for life.
-Stay on low carb untill I reach my weight loss goal and move into maintanance for life.
-to lose 100 lbs by the middle of December, 2007.

may the force be with us!

and thanks for listening

Tracy

Welcome back! I'm back too, starting today. Your post grabbed my attention because I have a new phrase that I coined... Today is the FIRST DAY OF ME!!!! And everyday from now on will be the FIRST DAY OF ME! I've learned that I can sit back and look at my past and see all of my missteps, or I can realize that the only thing affecting tomorrow is today. Every day is special and unique, and I have to approach each day as it comes. I've decided I'm not even going to weigh in or meal plan or anything. I've always focused so much on the details (food diary, tracking my weight loss on a spreadsheet, etc). All the energy I put into those things kind of distracted me from focusing on actually doing what I needed to do. Not saying that the above methods don't work... just not for me. Anyway, I'm glad to be back, and I'm glad that you've decided to come back too!

Hi Tracy,

Welcome back. Sorry to hear about your father's death. I lost both of my parents and it can really wipe you out for a long time - you're amazing to be even focusing on your health and wellbeing already. I'm not sure about you but my father's death (heart attack) really focused me on eating well and exercising - think it's the wake up call I needed (although would have rather had a less traumatic one).

Your plan to increase your exercise gradually to get to the point you want to be in March is excellent. That's the best way to do it. 100lbs is a lot to lose by December - but just over 2lbs a week - think it's definitely achieveable - go for it!

I am so very sorry about your dad. Give yourself some time to heal. This has got to be one of THE most difficult things a person will ever have to live with in a lifetime.

I'm glad to see your back and recommited. Good luck!!!!

Hi Tracy and Tiffany! Welcome back. I'm looking forward to getting to know each of you.

Tracy, I'm sorry your Dad had to leave. Its good that you are turning this very difficult time into a chance for renewal in your life.

Tiffany, the scales and the mechanics of dieting can become all consuming and distracting. Each of us must decide what changes work for each of our lives. We will be here for you to encourage you on your journey.
