What do these exchanges mean?
I was plundering around the web and I found a dietary exchange chart. I didn't put the whole one here.
I've never done a diet with exchanges. I've seen some of the recipes on here that reference them.
Does this mean that I'm supposed to eat (1400 cal diet) 3 milk products, 3 veggies, 4 fruit, 6 bread, etc per day?
I'm asking because I'm getting ready to banish all meat (except fish and poultry) from my diet for a while.

Milk 2 3 3 3
Vegetable 2 3 4 4
Fruit 3 4 4 4
