I believe magnesium and calcium are supposed to be taken in complementary amounts to work properly. I think calcium deficiency can also contribute to leg cramps. They sell supplements that have both calcium and magnesium--you might want to try one of those. Cramps can also be caused by dehydration. If I haven't drunk enough water during the day, it's almost guaranteed that I will have leg cramps that night.
