Arrow July mini challenge!

Well here we in July! Summer just kind of sneaks up doesn't it?

If you would like to give yourself a mini challenge this month then feel free to post your personal goals.

I've decided that I would like to jumpstart my weight loss (getting close to goal soon I hope ) by challenging myself to make some changes this month.

So my personal goals this month are:

1) Eat vegetarian meals all week
2) Start a walking program with my hubby
3) get up earlier in the am to exercise and meditate

Good luck everyone!

Spend 1 day a week doing gardening and other yard work
1 day a week for detailed housework
2 days that I go for at least a 4 mile hike (2 miles 1 way)
2 days that I do weight training
1 day to chill and play on pc
(these days may overlap allowing for extra exercise or chores, horses, etc)

Water, fiber, watch portions (sunburns make me hungry) and sun exposure (got a little crispy this weekend in the garden)

Think healthy weight thoughts!!

Well so far so good. We've managed to eat veggie every night this week. Yesterday we went to an Indian restaurant and had all vegetarian dishes. Our friends had butter chicken but we resisted and I didn't even miss it!

I'm still working on the exercise but DH and I are going to a trial Bikram yoga class on the weekend. Hopefully we will both like it.

This week I am working on getting up earlier to exercise.

I restarted my diet 6/10 and even though I do not like the price or texture of the food ordered a months food from Nutrasystem - mainly to get my taste buds adjusted and used to controlled portions of food again. I have been losing 2 lbs a week 9lbs so far.
Goal exercise every other day or more
build myself up to 30 minutes on the ellipical trainer
if I do splurge only eat one portion - no more!

I am rather late on joining this month so this will continue for next month!

Still doing well!

DH and I are enjoying the yoga classes and have stepped up to 2 classes per week now.

We are also still on plan regarding vegetarian meals and I'm hoping to stick to it while on holiday.

My WI is tommorrow. Not sure if the scale will move or not. I checked last week and holding steady at 190 - which may be down from last month since I seemed to teeter between 190-195.

I have been walking like crazy - twice a week up the big road - 8% grade for the first 1.5 miles then flat for 1 mile then back down the 1.5 mile hill working the front of my legs on the way down and I carry a pack.

Plus we went for a 5 mile hike on Friday up to Grasshopper Mtn out of Tiller. Too awesome - there is a cliff at the top with an 800 ft shear drop on one side and an awesome view of the Umpqua Valley. This was uphill 1 way - so 2.5 miles with the last part, 3/4 mile so steep and narrow that it really worked that butt. The rest was a more park like stroll but with the pack still a good burn.

So if the scale holds again - I am going to assume it is due to muscle tone and will give it another month to catch up with the fat burning and scale moving. Plus hard to cut back on calories when exerting myself, so I try not to diet on days that I hike. I still eat healthy but more than on off days which only makes sense.

Fingers crossed for tommorrow - need to do measurement since I havent for months.

I managed to stay on my veggie plan and only eat meat once a week!

I noticed that a pair of pants I tried on last month now fit comfortably so I think my yoga/walking program is working!

Ok - official Aug 1 weight is 192 - down 3 lbs. Plus I took my measurements which I havent done since last Dec.

Since Dec I have lost 25 lbs and 5" from my hips, 3" from my butt, 2.5" from my saddle bags, 1.25" from my calves and 1" from my bicep. So all the walking is working.
