Resist the overpriced, over buttered, sugar coated junk! Stick a couple of carrot sticks in your purse or some granola

Granola might not be a good idea. At least not the regular kind. It has about 500 calories per cup. HUGE calories.

I was always way too cheap for movie theatre snacks - dried fruit works good too (and fits in a purse easily).

I buy some granola that's in the natual section of the store, can't remember the brand but it had dried fruit in it like cranberries and it's only about 320 per cup, if you look around you can find it. But I personally can't sit down and eat a cup of granola, but a couple of handfuls as a snack is great, and way healthier than sugary candy or buttery popcorn which would be near triple the amount of calories Only you can decide how many calories you want to have at any given time and what form they are in. I love the dried fruit idea too Glory, I will have to pick some up for just such an occasion.

ha, after working in a movie theater for a couple years, I'm pretty sure I will NEVER buy anything there again (except maybe a diet soda if I'm very thirsty, but surely no food). It's just plain highway robbery! I mean, I understand why it's so expensive, but that doesn't mean I have to pay for them! I usually don't have anything at all now--no drinks or snacks or anything--but if I do, I bring them myself. Large purses are perfect for this. I sometimes bring a can or bottle of diet soda and, yes, some candy (which I buy beforehand a Dollar Tree or Target), but I will buy something like Junior Mints that have fewer fat and calories than most other candies. If you have the right purse, you could even bring a small popped bag of microwave popcorn from home.

I usually buy a diet soda, eat three twizzlers (stolen from my dd) and have a pria bar (110 cal). I sit far away from ds and his mega popcorn, toopid skinny kids.

I don't eat at the movies because the popcorn smells like farts to me. I'm sorry if that's graphic but it just got to me one time and my poor sister had to suffer through a movie looking desolately at her popcorn after I informed her of my personal feelings. Hehe. I love to make her miserable - she's an older sis, so in my mind, it's all good!
I usually drink water before and I don't feel like the munchies during a movie. I'm ravenous after.

Haha that's funny! Too bad you couldn't hypnotize all of us to believe ALL junk food smelled. That would work. Imagine not wanting a stinky chocolate bar, because it smelled pooey.

Good for you! I am proud of you! And I agree with the others who suggested taking your own snack.
