Default help with bread

When taking my diabetic classes they told us that if the first ingredient on the label did not say whole wheat or whole grain then it was just kinda fake wheat bread. That probably isn't the proper term but I'm kind of at a loss as what else to call it.
Anyway..... while looking at labels recently I have been so confused. A lot of the packages will say whole grain but the first ingredient will be enriched wheat flour with whole wheat flour somewhere down around #5. Even the new wonder bread, the supposed to be whole grain white is this way.
Can anyone help me figure this out?

enriched = BAD WORD! If the label says that run away!

Just checked my loaf of bread and the first ingredient is "whole wheat flour"

Keep looking! it's out there!

My bread's first ingredient is... water. Followed by whole grain wheat flour.

They're out there, I guess it's just a matter of finding them. I look for fiber in my bread, and that seems to lead me towards the most healthy breads.
