Default Moonwalk- i did it and got my medal!!

Hi everyone!

well i did it!
Had a great night there the atmosphere was great and the rain held off too!
Only had a slight shower around 5 am for about 10-20 mins!

But i started at 11.35 pm and finished at 7.17 and 30 seconds am!
so it took me 7hrs 42mins and 30 seconds!

Am pleased with the result too!

It was great doing the walk -i didnt stop once for the loos either!

although there were queues at each stop!

I just kept going !

at about 11 miles though we came to a complete standstill almost for about 20 mins, trying to get through some tunnel/walkway and by the time we got going again it was hard and my feet started to hurt -but i walked it off eventually!

it was great too, walking round london and seeing the sights ,also people cheering us on!

at the end - terry came to wait at bayswater road and when asked the help desk which direction that was they sent me in the oppsite direction LOL
so i ended up walking about another mile back again!doh!(well staggered LOL)
Total steps on my pedometer for the night was 59,063!
I got home had a bath then slept for 8 hours !

Am really aching still though, just at the top of my legs and also my back is killing me -real painfull, think its seized up once i sit down its painfull trying to get back up

Just hope it improves over the next few days!
I feel like an old woman getting about at the moment!

Anyhow it was a good night i enjoyed it although those last few miles were taking their toll on me and my speed kept picking up then slowed down!

And as i was leaving there were still hundreds of moonwalkers still finishing!

Anyhow thankyou to everyone that has sponsered me-it was a great event and all the money has gone to help a worthy cause in breast cancer research and care- and i was proud to be part of it!

just need to check the total -but its approx £836 i raised

also, i have uploaded the pics i took and they are on my Moonwalk page...
Here is the link..

http://denteztykydon.piczo.com/?preview=y&cr=2&rfm=y

just got to wait till tomorrow to find my action photo- probably looking bewildered and knackered LOL

enjoy looking at the pics

Denise

XX

also in the daily telegraph on Thursday 25th, they are prinitng a supplement of a roll of honour of all who took part!

Hope you got on ok Clare- i did try looking out for you and some others but it was like looking for a needle in a haystack LOL!

WELL DONE! What an achievement

You looked great - 59,063 steps - Woo Hoooo!!!!

I walk a lot and I can normally get rid of walking backache or any other walking related aches by doing 20 to 30 minutes of stretches.

Good stretch for your back: Stand with your feet hip distance apart, legs slightly bent. Then bend over and place hands just above your knees, fingers pointing in towards each other, head hanging down, putting your upper body weight on your hands. (So your back is flat) Then start the stretch - think about gently pushing the middle of your back upwards. At your maximum stretch hold the position for 30 seconds, relax and repeat again holding it for 45 seconds. If I've got really bad back ache I do this stretch every 30 minutes or so and it really helps.

Fantastic timing Denise. You beat Lorraine Kelly and me!

I completed in just under 9 hours, including 2 toliet stops, both of which were half an hour long( 15,000 women drinking water and with nervous bladders!)

High points: the atmosphere, the sights round London at night, the supporters, no muscular aches and pains!

Low points: 5 am when I tried to play word games with my sister and we were both so mentally shattered that it went round in circles (Guess who? Is he american? Does he have brown hair? Is he American? Does he have brown hair....) My feet- they obviously expanded so much from being on my feet most if the day and night that my poor trainers couldn't cope and I have 17 blisters on one foot. The banana I had a 6:30- never has a piece of fruit tasted so good.

Thanks to you all for all your support! Here's proof that we did it- I'm on the left

Probably the most difficult thing I've ever done but I would wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone who is thinking of doing it next year.

The website is www.walkthewalk.co.uk and you have to apply and agree to raise £100, which is easy once people know you're walking in your bra (or amybe I just work with some dodgy people!!) The places are released in November but you have to be on the ball.

It's a great laugh but hard on the legs!

Denise:

I was looking for you on the Sonoma group and worried that I did not hear how your walk went. Clare said that you post over here, and that you did really well.

I am so pleased for you. You did a great job. I can't believe you didn't have loo breaks!!! I would have never been able to do that.

I saw your pictures and they are great. I bet your family is proud of you.

Best to you for a speedy recovery~Cate

Default thanks everyone!

Hiya , thanks everyone for all your congrats and well wishes!

I have finally stopped aching today LOL!
My back did get better the following day- thank god!
and the tops of my legs-in the hip joint and my butt have recovered now lol!

but i 'would' do it again!- but i think i would train for longer than they recommended on the walkthewalk site and do 'longer' miles!

someone asked if it was cold?

no, it wasnt actually- it was just right!
although i did wear my track jacket all the way round(it had united kingdom written on the back of it- did you notice me in that at all clare? ) as i already had a cold and didnt want to make it worse

clare that was good going for you too great pic of you too- actually you look familiar?- maybe i did see you on the night but just didnt know you

and what time did lorraine kelly finish it in then?

i was pleased i didnt stop for the toilets though- i just sipped approx 4 bottles of water the way round!
but that bottleneck was a pain wasnt it- must have been 20 mins stuck there- and that hurt my feet after trying to get going again!!

i had to laugh at some of the moonwalkers on route though- they were stopped (before halfway)-stretching muscles-applying deep heat and blister cream/plasters and also some looked like they were having a t-break stopping for a long rest outside a garage and nipping into a paper shop for refreshments!

but it WAs a great night and an experience!

and i was So glad to finish it though

perhaps next year we could try and get a 3FC team together ?

now is the hard part collecting in the sponsor money !!!

going to see if i can find my race pic now on actionphoto .net!!(dread to think what that will be like-if theres one!)

Oh and Clare-dont forget the daily telegraph tomorrow!

catch you all later!

BTW Cate- whats sonoma?
