Default 101-pound man eats 6,500 calories a day - Article

I feel badly for the guy, but I must admit to being a bit jealous as well..

IDAHO FALLS, Idaho - A 5-foot-9, 22-year-old man who eats 6,500 calories a day — two and a half times the average intake for an adult male — has earned a special reward for breaking the 100-pound mark:

Dinner out from his mom.

"I'm a medical mystery," said Matt Chaffee, who weighed in at 101 pounds on Saturday. "I've accepted it."

Boy, am I jealous. If I ate 6500 calories a day, I'd be the 1 ton woman. I think I'd actually be tired from all that eating. Lol

It's great that he stays active. It must be difficult for him to stay in shape by exercising and still maintain a balance of calories to just to keep from loosing weight.

That's a lot of calories in one day!

This guy is not unique.

My best friend has been this way for years. He's 5'11" and weighs 117. He eats 7,000 calories minimum a day (his morning snack alone is 1800 calories) and can't gain an ounce.

By the way, he rarely goes to the bathroom, so he doesn't poop a ton. In fact, I tease him about never actually going to a bathroom.

He's been to every doctor and dietician around, and he's perfectly healthy. The only way he will gain weight is to quit exercising -- he climbs the 14,000 foot mountains in Colorado and skis every weekend during ski season. He hikes, camps, and can't stand to be idle.

I do have great trouble relating to him -- when he complains about eating so much and losing weight I admit to telling him to shut up. I can't sympathize with him at all.

I think I'd rather be over weight and healthy than to have to eat that much food and wear heavy clothing b/c I might get sick. Poor thing. Bet he's just as frustrated as us.

I had a friend in college who ate so much more than the rest of us, we teased her all the time. At first we thought she might be bulimic, but when we all roomed together, it was obvious that she just had a high metabolism. She wasn't outrageously skinny, but she had a healthy build, and was only moderately active, but she was eating nearly constantly. She didn't really eat junk food though, it was always pretty healthy stuff, still I would guess that her calorie intake had to be in the 4,000 - 5,000 range.

My dad grew up on a farm and became used to eating like a farmhand. When he was young and working on the farm, he was very skinny, almost underweight. Then after he married mom, he worked as a delivery salesman for Butternut bread. He gained a little weight at first, but stabilized at an average guys build, because his job was still pretty active.

Within a few months of retirement, he looked pregnant. He's now trying to take it off, and finding how hard dieting is (he always lectured Mom and I how easy it would be for us to lose weight if we just ate less and did more - true enough, but he found out just how hard that really is)
