Default I went dress shopping Saturday

I had an interesting thing happen to me on Saturday. My DH and I went clothes shopping for me (he was trying to escape our icky house guest) and we went to Dress Barn. I ended up buying 10 outfits. It was crazy busy in the store because they were having a great sale - $5 off the first dress and $10 off the second plus a lot of Spring stuff was on sale.

When I got home, I found that the clerk that rang me up had made some major mistakes. First of all, I had a coupon for 10% off and she gave me 20% instead. Then, she didn't ring up 5 of the 10 items I bought. I didn't notice it right away because the receipt they have you sign is not an itemized receipt. I didn't pay any attention to the total either because I was too busy trying to keep my DH from dragging the dresses on the ground on the way out to the car.

So, Monday night after work I had to drive all the way back to the store. The assistant manager was in total shock. The total of the items she didn't ring up and charge me for turned out to be $199.95 -- and the store missed their Saturday sales goal by $42. Plus she had given me an extra 10% off. Can you imagine?

I wonder how many other people she gave free clothes too that weren't honest enough to come back and tell them about it.

Now, if you were that store manager, what would you do? I said I didn't want to get the poor girl in trouble and she said she would just give her some more training -- but I don't know if I believe it. I hope she doesn't get fired. But I don't know if this is the first time or not. There were tons of people in line waiting to pay and the store only has 2 registers.

Oh and the clothes were 2 sizes smaller than what was in my closet.

2 sized smaller??? Cool!!! WTG!!!

When I was a store manager and had a similar issue, I wrote the person up and removed them from the register. Depending on how long she was working there, she may have been written up and retrained, moved to another position, or fired. If she's that bad at cashiering and is loosing money for the store, that isn't a good job for her. No matter what happens, it's not your fault, the responsibility for doing her job correctly lies with her, not with you.
